By now I've finally put all of these in order. Yay me. Enjoy the story.
Cora's pov:
"Thank you, babe." I say as Damian holds open the door for me. We step inside, the warm scent of baked goods welcoming us after walking in the brisk autumn wind.
"Always a pleasure, Beloved." He returns. If I were to look really closely I would be able to see him smirk at his little victory. I've never been one for chivalry I guess.
We find a table inside the rustic style cafe and look over the specials. I occasionally point out something, to which Damian typically labels it a 'sugar monstrosity', but refrains from persuading me against it.
"Okay, then how about the mini cheesecakes. We could share." I prompt. He looks over the ingredients list carefully, a suspicious eye flicking to me.
"It's acceptable." He admits. I grin.
"Perfect, because I'm gonna get the drink with the most possible chocolate in it anyways." I state, looking over the drinks section for just that. He rolls his eyes, but I can see the barest hint of a smile on his lips.
"Of that, I have no doubt. Are there any tea options on yours?" He asks, gesturing to the paper I have in my hand with the opposite one in his.
"Hmm... Yep, right here. It's a black chai tea though." I say, showing him where it is. He carefully looks it over before giving a small nod.
"I'll try it. The worst that could happen is that I don't like it." He says with a shrug. I smile at him.
"That's pretty optimistic. Did something good happen today?" I ask. He smirks.
"I'm on a date with the most amazing girl in the world. I believe that counts as good." He says smoothly. I giggle a little, mostly to cover the slight pink to my cheeks.
"Why thank you, my love. I'm happy to be here with you." I reply. He smiles, the other half of his mouth sliding up.
"Hiya kids! What can I get started for you today?" A bright waiter says, popping up from seemingly nowhere. I jumped a little, but I pride myself on not yelping that time.
"A platter of the cheesecakes, a chai tea, and for the lady..." Damian trails off, gesturing to me.
"The chocolate midnight milkshake, please." I order. The man cheerfully scribbles our orders on his notepad before snapping it shut.
"Okie dokie. I'll have those right out for you." He says, and leaves just as quickly as he appeared.
"He seemed nice." I comment. Damian merely shrugs.
"That's part of his job, I'd assume." He says.
"It's still nice to see someone smile in Gotham." I say easily.
"You smile quite often." Damian reminds. I find my lips curling up at that.
"Yeah, but I don't carry around a mirror. Plus, seeing you smile is so much better. I think I'll stick with that." I flirt, just a little. Damian scoffs slightly at that, but the corners of his mouth twitch up.
"My smile is barely-"
"Excuse me." A shrewd voice cuts him off. My face falls immediately, and Damian's expression practically inverts into a frown as we behold the lady in front of our table.
"Hello." I greet politely, holding back a wince. "Can we help you?" The lady glares at me, but it's nothing compared to the daggers Damian is shooting at her with his own glare.
