*Still in order
Cora POV:
The setting sun looks like butter melting over the city. From my spot on this roof top, I can see as far as the warehouse district.
"Chickadee, are you coming?" Red Robin calls from the next roof over.
A smile breaks my admiration as I begin to sprint. Even with the practice my breath still catches as my feet leave the ledge. It returns just as surely as my rapid heart beat. I land on the opposing roof with a jarring thud.
"Sorry, I got distracted." I say, feeling the wind whip through the strands of hair that have fallen from my braid.
"It's fine. It's just patrol for us right now." Tim shrugs. He looks much different under the cowl. Older, even.
"Speaking of, do you think Robin is doing okay? I mean I know he's capable but it's on the other side of town and I can't help but worry." I ramble out.
"He's fine. And Hood is doing perimeter with him. They're both fine." He assures gently. I take a calming breath, just like Dami showed me.
"So that's where he went. I'm surprised you're not more on edge." I say, beginning to stride to the roof's ledge.
"I trust him, and I'm well aware of how capable he is." Tim supplies. I turn my head to see him following me.
"I trust Robin too, and I have the tallies to prove his capabilities. But I can't stop this nagging feeling in my gut." I frown slightly.
I really should have more faith in my own boyfriend. But if something really bad were to happen to him, I'd be devastated. Just thinking about seeing him hurt makes my heart tug.
Tim bumps my shoulder with his, and I see the regretful sort of smile on his face.
"That's normal, you know.
I may trust Hood with my life, but I'm never certain about his until I see his helmet come off." Tim says, a sigh deep in his chest. Now it's my turn to bump his shoulder.
"I won't tell Red Hood if you don't tell Robin." I say, trying bring a little bit of humour back to us. He smirks.
"I thought you hate lying." He says. I give him an unimpressed look.
"I do, but I don't want Robin thinking I doubt him. Because I don't. I'm just a worry wart." I fold my arms across my chest. Tim chuckles.
"The worriest of worry warts." He states with a smile. The coms in our ears crackle.
"Chick, Red. Me and Robin are coming back to the cave. Rendezvous there." Red Hood's hurried voice rings in my ears. His urgency makes my worry spike.
"Hood what happened?" I ask frantically. It takes a few seconds to get a response.
"The kid got hit. Agent A is already prepping the med bay." He says, his breathing sounds heavy.
I don't remember when my feet started moving, but now I'm sprinting across rooftops. The warm butter yellow of the sunset is turning into a blazing warning. The sound of my heartbeat in my ears is like an alarm.
I swing, sprint, jump and glide across rooftops until we make it to the bikes. I barely register Red Robin beside me, but it's a small comfort to know he's there.
