"Hey guys." I said, sitting next to Xander  and his friends.

They all seemed to be quite busy talking about sports again because they did not reply except for Fin who just waved at me and continued eating his burger.

We were currently having lunch in the cafeteria and I was not up for it. I poked at my salad, not too excited to eat it.

"Oh hey, babe, when did you arrive?" Xander asked when he finally noticed me.

I do not know exactly what made me date Xander. Maybe it was the fact that he was good looking. His brunette always combed back hair, piercing blue eyes and that million dollar smile had me hooked for sure. I was surprised when he asked me out one day out of nowhere. Such a confidence booster, don't you think?

"Just now." I said, smiling at him.

Yes, I knew that was a lie. It took him about six minutes to realize I was sitting right next to him. If I told him that he would have felt bad and that was the last thing I wanted him to feel.

"Why didn't you greet me?" He joked.

"I was about to." I said.

"Make it up to me." He said and I raised a brow.

But he did not pay attention to that instead he leaned in close and his lips landed on mine. Tasting that usual minty taste as his tongue got tangled with mine. I let him control the kiss like usual.

"Okay, stop. Some of us are trying to eat here." Stephanie said, throwing a cucumber slice at us.

"Sorry." I apologized as soon as me and Xander were apart.

Stephanie never really liked public displays of affection. She would always stop us even if we held hands or did anything couple worthy. Part of me felt bad for her. She never really dated guys, she was more of a player.

Garrett tapped Xander's shoulder and Xander nodded standing up. Garrett was Xander's best friend. He wasn't the most nicest of people but he wasn't that mean also. To be on the safe side no one dared to mess with him. Xander gave me his signature toothy smile.

"Sorry babe, I gotta go to the gents... I'll be back." He kissed my cheek and headed out.

I have always wondered where he would go off with Garrett to. Sometimes they would just disappear and not attend classes all. I always tried to get him to stop but he doesn't listen to me, ever.

He did not even ask me about my job interview.

"Oh...I need to go...to Mr Harris' class. I'm failing math again." Stephanie said heading out also.

I stared at her as she ran out. She looked pretty excited for someone who was going to talk to a teacher about their failure. I grabbed the bottle of water looking at the only person left on the table with me.

"I'm sorry. He is such a dick." Fin said and I looked at him confused.

"Who?" I asked.

"My brother." He said getting up and leaving the cafeteria.

Okay? Why was Fin angry at Xander and why did he call him the D word? I sat there confused and reluctantly looked  my lunch. I could not wait to be finally through with high school.

Just a few more months. I told myself.

After school I rode my bicycle to work.
I was so happy when they gave me the uniform. Finally, I could pay for other things at home. I was kind of bummed that the guy who was interviewed with me didn't get it. Although he was a jerk.  He might have needed the money more.
