Arlo

I groaned when I heard the alarm go off and sat up straight. I didn't even get a wink of sleep last night. Not after what Xander did. Why in the world would he go to a bar on a school night? I got up and woke up Tobias so he could get ready for school.

After that I took a shower and got ready first. I made breakfast for Tobias while he was getting ready and lunch so he would eat in case he got hungry. Tobias ate his breakfast and grabbed his bag.

"Your lunch." I told him before he could open the door.

He nodded, grabbing the lunch. He grabbed the door knob but did not open the door. He looked back at me.

"I love you and I'm sorry about yesterday, I was angry...I really don't hate you." He apologized.

Wow, he was awful at apologising but I will take it.

"It's okay just don't take out your anger on me...instead talk to me, okay?" I asked and he nodded.

I ruffled his hair and he backed away glaring at me and he opened the door. I laughed as I picked up my bag and went out the door locking it as I rode my bike to school.

I dozed off in the first period and that got our teacher Mr Harris angry. He gave me lunch detention when I told him I could not stay for after school detention because I had work. I know he did not...hate me. He was just using me as an example. As if showing others what certain actions lead to but that did not mean I liked him.

I didn't have lunch and I was not really angry about the idea because I did not really eat much but at least I had an excuse not that anyone would ask if I ate or not. Most people did not care about it. Well, most people did not really know me to be precise.

By the end of school I was fatigued. My attitude was all gloomy and just...not hopeful. Not that there wasn't anything to hope for my life was perfect, I loved it. Maybe if I keep telling myself that I'll actually believe it.

"Are you okay?" A voice called and I turned around finding Fin with a school back bag and a Physics book in his arms.

He loved Physics. He was the only guy I knew who entered at least thirty Physics competitions from tenth grade and won. Yeah, I know he was smart. He was actually also the only guy I have a normal conversation with in Xander's group. Xander does not like it when I make outside friends either than his group.

"I'm fine." I said getting on my bike.

He did not seem impressed with my answer but he did not say anything.

"I noticed you didn't come for lunch so I saved you this cupcake." He said, grabbing a lunchbox from his bag and handing it to me. I smiled, grabbing the lunchbox and mumbling thanks. "Thanks for bringing Xander home by the way. He really doesn't deserve you." He said before walking away.

I stood with the lunch box in hand buffled. He did not even give me a chance to ask how Xander was. I figured he didn't come to school. I quickly shoved the lunch box my bag and climbed on my bike and rode it to work. When my break finally came by I headed home and got the car so I could drive to Tobias' school.

It would be easier to just go with the car everywhere but I always had a feeling mom would show up and I didn't want her to be stranded. Even though she liked to disappear on us for days without an explanation it was still her car.

I drove to Tobias' school finding him waiting for me with a smile on his face. Well at least one of us had a good day. I greeted him and he grinned exclaiming a hello back at me.

"So Friday I'm playing a match against the North...will you come watch me?" He asked after some time.

"Uhm... I've got work..." I said and his face instantly dropped. I did not want to ruin his mood but somehow I did and I felt horrible. "But I'll ask Milly to fill in for me...I might be at least 20 minutes late, though I was supposed to have a double shift." I said sadly and he grinned.
