Westin
I groaned for the fifth time since the last hour. I was getting really tired of this work thing. When were they going to fire me already?
Ricky barely came to the store and the store manager, Andy, always had a creepy smile. He never once frowned at me when I said things that people referred to as rude. I was starting to think that Ricky told him to...endure me. I worked full time so from 08:00 am to 17:00. It was almost Friday and all I wanted to do was get drunk.
My gaze fell upon the clock hanging on the wall. 16:30 it read I had exactly thirty minutes until I left this place. I can't say I hate this place, I don't, I was actually starting to like it but today I couldn't help but stay unfocused. That led me to messing up orders and it didn't help that I had been thinking about Arlo.
I kept on wondering if he was okay. Last time I saw him he didn't look fine. What if he got back together with that asshole Xander? I hope not. I groaned once again hitting my head on the counter. I should have asked for his number.
"Uhm...Hello?" I looked up to find a seven year old looking up at me expectingly while his mom stood behind him from a distance talking on the phone.
"Welcome to Ricky's ice cream shop, where you get happiness in a cup or a cone. I'm Westin, how can I be of service?" I said with a straight face.
"I want that one!" He exclaimed pointed at the raspberry flavour and I nodded scooping it and putting it on a cone.
After serving a few more customers, it was finally knock off time. I let Andy close up the store and headed to my car but had one cigarette before heading home. I needed to take a shower. When I got home Pa and dad weren't there. Probably went to visit aunt Sandy's, from what dad told me it seemed liked Jillian got in trouble in school and that stressed out aunt Sandy and anything that stressed her out stresses dad and that stressed Pa. So the visit.
Opening the fridge I grabbed a bottle of water and a sandwich dad made then went to my room. After I ate I took a long, needed shower and had another smoke before dialling Callen's phone and telling him I needed to get drunk but couldn't because it wasn't Friday yet.
Callen as usual listened to my runt about work without a word... it's become a daily routine now. He'd be quiet and let me talk then I'd be quiet and he'd complain about how much I complained too much.
After the call with Callen, I started reading a book but ten chapters in the process I got a call from an unknown number.
"If this is insurance I'm already insured." I stated.
"Westin? It's Tobias and I need your help."
A little surprised I cleared my throat. "Hey, little man. What's up?"
"Arlo is missing."
Placing my book on the night stand I sat up straight. "Since when? Why? What happened?" I didn't realise I was freaking out until Tobias told me to slow down.
I hoped Arlo didn't do something stupid. I was hoping he was right about him not being suicidal.
"I think something happened at school and today he had a fight with mom. He left five hours ago and he doesn't answer my calls nor my texts... I'd call someone else but you're the only friend of his who isn't...shitty. I currently know he is at a bar, I'm tracking him. I don't think they'd let me enter since I'm underage. Anyway can you help?" He asked and I told him to send me his location and put on a white t-shirt, black Jeans and sneakers then headed out of the house only to find dad and Pa at the door.
"I've gotta go... I'll be back soon, bye" I said, quickly passing through them.
They both seemed surprised by my rush behaviour but I didn't give them much time to react as I got on the car and followed the GPS to where Arlo was.
