Chapter 8

Arlo

"For the fourth time, you look fine. Stop checking the mirror." Tobias said, grabbing his school bag from the ground and heading out.

He was supposed to go watch Army of the Dead with me but he promised he would go to Arnold's birthday party, his best friend, which happens to also be a sleepover. I wish he told me sooner then I would not have to go alone there with a chance of meeting Westin. I could not back down anyway...I was waiting two months straight for the movie to be available.

I did try to get Xander to come with me but he could not because he had a family thing to attend. I once again looked at myself in the mirror and back at Tobias, who had turned around.

"Don't you think the pink hoodie with the picture of Conan Gray screams out I'm gay! A little too much?" I voiced out my concerns and Tobias sighed.

I know I was keeping him from leaving and he was probably getting late but I really needed his advice.

"Well, aren't you gay?" He asked in a duh tone.

"I am but I don't want to rub it in people's faces. Wait here." I said running upstairs to my room.

I grabbed a purple hoodie with a milkshake printed on it instead. As I ran down stairs I took off the one I was wearing and wore the purple one.
I found Tobias impatiently waiting for me down stairs with a frown on his face.

"How's this?" I asked.

"You seriously need to get friends who can keep up with this... This was the first thing you wore." He said, rolling his eyes.

I already had friends. Xander's friends were my friends. Sure I was not exactly close to them but they can still be considered friends right?

"Just tell me how I look." I demanded and he rolled his eyes yet again.

"You look fine. I really have to go... I'll see you tomorrow, Okay?" He said, trying to leave again.

"Text me as soon as you get there..." I said and I saw him nod as he left. "Oh and I--"

"I love you too!" He interrupted.

How did he know I was going to say that?

I grabbed my phone from the kitchen counter and headed out. The walk to the cinema was only twenty minutes long so I still had a few minutes until the movie started. I decided to get some snacks as I waited. I was glad there was no sign of Westin. Me and him together made me think of things I should not be thinking about someone who is not my boyfriend.

"Medium popcorn and frozen coke." I ordered. "Thanks." I said as I was handed my stuff.

I was making my way back into the cinema when I saw Stephanie's familiar blue hair making her way back to the cinema. I decided to follow her. Maybe she would want to watch the movie with me but I did not expect her to be meeting with my boyfriend. Even though it was dark I could see it was him.

Xander smirked as he saw her and immediately went in for a kiss. I froze in shock as the two continued making out. As the tears slid from my eyes the popcorn and coke fell too. I did not have the power to hold anything at that point. They immediately stopped and looked up. I quickly put on my hoodie to cover my face and ran out with tears still rolling out of my eyes.

Not paying attention to where I was going, I bumped into someone and fell down. I was a little surprised when the person did not fall down too. However, I was more shocked when I saw a hand in front of me.

He was offering to help me.

I grabbed his hand and stood up only to see Callen. He was Westin's friend, the one I met at Tobias' soccer match. What was he doing here anyway? I mumbled a thank you and tried to run away again when I heard my name being called out by Xander.
