Westin
I just had to have a off day on the same Friday day Jillian, aunt Sandy's child, had a soccer match. For some reason I think dad was behind this. Since aunt Sandy could not make it to the match because she had a meeting at that time and uncle Ben had a work trip she asked dad to go support Jillian and since dad does not like the thought of being alone I just had to accompany him.
Callen offered to come when I vented out my frustrations about the situation to him. Well...he didn't exactly offer, I more of forced him to come. I expected the whole thing to be boring and dull but I did not expect to see Arlo there looking so lonely. I just had to ask him if was sitting alone...well not in those specific words and my dad was the one who asked me to ask him.
When it was half time I needed a breather without my dad so I made an excuse to go get snacks that very moment I got a text from Pa asking how things were going and when I told him I separated from dad to go by snacks he insisted I go to the doughnut shop three blocks away from the school. Dad had a thing for doughnuts.
So I bought doughnuts for dad, a drink for Callen and Doritos for me which I sacrificed for Arlo. I do not know why I felt like he did not eat.
"Sure, there's nothing going on between the two of you." Callen said sarcastically as he stared at Arlo who was grinning ear to ear as he ate the snacks.
I rolled my eyes at him focusing on the soccer match in front of us. I was quite impressed with Arlo's little brother's soccer skills he was a pretty good forward and had already scored at least two goals for his team. If he was not the same team as my cousin I would have been embarrassed.
"Are you in college?" I heard Arlo ask and I turned my eyes away from the game and looked at him.
Why the sudden curiosity?
"No." I answered but I could tell he wanted to ask more. "I'm taking a gap year, why do you ask?"
"Just curious." He shrugged popping a Dorito into his mouth and looking back at the game.
Currently Jillian's team was doing well and they already scored two goals to one. As I watched the match suddenly the ball headed for Tobias head there was no dodging it or at least that's what I thought until Jillian pushed Tobias away and hit the ball with his head.
"Hey, isn't he on our team?" Arlo whined.
I found it funny how cute he looked when he was frustrated. Yes, I said it. He looked cute so cute it made me want to take a picture.
"I think Jillian just saved that kid from a caution." Callen commented.
That was clear but why? I mean yeah they are on the same team but last time I checked Jillian was not the type of kid to save others so his behavior was very suspicious.
"That kid is my brother, Tobias..." Arlo informed us...well Callen and my dad. "And he looks pissed." Arlo said more to himself as he ate more of the snacks.
The game ended with 2-1 meaning the school team had won. My dad went to use the man's room and Callen offered to show him where it was located more like my dad dragged Callen along, I think it was just a plan to get me and Arlo alone. Arlo walked beside me as we went to the parking lot, I am not sure if he realized it or not.
"You came!" I heard a familiar voice exclaim.
Tobias ran to his brother and gave him a hug. Even though Arlo was smiling he looked grossed out as his sweaty brother hugged him.
"Of course I did, and you need to take a shower." Arlo pointed out as his brother let go of him.
"Sure after you buy me ice cream." Tobias grinned. Arlo looked like he was going to disagree but when Tobias gave him the puppy dog eyes, he caved and said okay.
Again Tobias grinned wickedly and I smirked. Clever kid. I liked him. Arlo took the bag Tobias had on his shoulder and gave me a wave.
"Hey, Westin." Tobias greeted as Arlo was about to leave.
"Hey, kid."
"Why are you here?" He asked me and I saw a glint of mischief in his eyes. "I thought you said you guys aren't dating." He looked directly at his brother who blushed a million shades of red.
Arlo shook his head and raised his arms making a cross over like he was accused of murder. I do not know how I did it but I contained my laughter as I watched the blushing mess.
"Westin, Mom wants to talk to uncle Jeremy." Jillian said shoving his phone at me.
I told you that kid was a brat. I rolled my eyes at him getting a better hold on the phone.
Tobias face turned bitter as he looked at Jillian and Jillian looked like his was surprised to see Tobias then a blush appeared on his face quickly covered by a scowl and I wondered what the hell was up with them. I put the phone on my ear as I stared at the two.
"Hey, Jerms?" Aunt Sandy's voice sounded on the phone.
"Dad went to the restroom he'll be back shortly." I said.
"Oh okay, I don't know why I can't reach your dad...please tell him there's another emergency meeting here so I'm going to need him to look after Jillian. I'll pick him up tomorrow. Thank you Westin!" She exclaimed and hang up.
I groaned looking at Jillian and shoving his phone back in his hands. It was punishment enough that I had to come here today now I had to live with the kid.
"Shut up Tobias, let's go." I was surprised to see Arlo's face was still red.
I am guessing Tobias said something about me and him again.
"Westin, Arlo wants to invite you to watch Army of the dead with us tomorrow at five." Tobias said with a smirk.
"No, I am not inviting you...I mean if you want to come then it's totally up to you, I mean the cinema is a public space anyway so I..." Arlo starts blubbering and I could not help but laugh at him.
"Come on, let's get going... I've got dinner to cook." Dad said stopping in front of us but immediately smiled when he noticed Arlo he smiled. "But if you guys want to keep talking we can wait." He grinned brightly.
I rolled my eyes looking back at Arlo who did not flush at what my dad said for some reason maybe he thought he was just he was being nice.
"We were just leaving, bye!" Arlo squeaked grabbing his brother's elbow and forcing him to follow.
"How do you know them?" Jillian asked and I raised a brow at him.
"What's it to you?" I asked and he cleared his throat and shrugged.
"I was just asking." He mumbled looking a little flush.
When he noticed my stare he quickly made his way towards my dad's car. I shrugged off his weird behavior and followed him inside the car and got into the passenger seat up front. Callen showed up minutes later and sat at the back with Jillian.
"Callen, are you staying over or should drop you home?"
"He is staying and so is the kid. Aunt Sandy said she had another emergency meeting and she can't take him." I told dad and he rolled his eyes starting the car.
"His name is Jillian. Will you please stop calling your nephew kid." He said sounding a little annoyed as he drove out of the school.
I do not know why but he was always annoyed when I call Jillian kid which is why I called him that most of the time. I liked seeing dad annoyed, it was quite funny.
