"Well it wasn't the first time I met him" Mingi looked at Jongho who didn't understand what he meant.
"Jared is a very old friend of mine, but you see he's not just a friend. We've gone through a lot together, we've known each other since we were fifteen..." Mingi's voice went lower and lower until he stopped talking.
"I don't know what to say...How close we you?" Jongho blinked a few times, trying to get all the information in.
"We were romantically involved for like six or seven years. But we were young and in love, we weren't a real couple. We barely understood what all of those labels meant"
"You dated him?" Jongho's throat was dry and he couldn't find his words.
"I did. We were part of a group of boys and girls. We'd stay at the skate park and vandalize other parks at night. We would all drink and smoke, we were trouble. I did a lot of bad things, so did Jared" Mingi trailed off once again.
"You were thugs????" Jongho was surprised but couldn't even begin to think about that right now.
"When we both went straight, I left him. We just didn't make sense anymore and I could feel he was dragging me down. I wanted more to life then just being with those people" It was the first time Mingi felt ashamed of his past. He didn't know why but telling Jongho everything he had done in his past terrorized him.
"Did he befriend me to get to you?" Jongho couldn't bring himself to look at Mingi.
"I don't know. He told me that he truly cared about you. That when he heard I was with someone else, he wanted to make sure it was someone who took care of me. I told him that you were the best thing that ever happened to me. That I love you and that I couldn't imagine life without you" Mingi gathered Jongho's hands in his and waited for his reaction.
"Do you really believe all of those things?" He asked. He looked at Mingi's teary eyes and felt his heart ache. "I love you too, Mingi. And I don't care what you did when you were young. Our teenage years are never easy and they sure as hell don't make us who we are today." Jongho squeezed his hands and brought them to his lips.
"I can't even begin to imagine what you've gone through or how hard it must have been seeing Jared again. Even worst, having to choose between him and me. He's been so important to you. I can't believe you picked me" Jongho's voice was broken by a sob.
"Don't cry, no. I never once doubted it would be you, Jongho. He's important to me and always will be and he's a big part of who I am today, but you're the one who will make me the person I'm supposed to be and I'd never let you go" Mingi softly grazed his cheeks and bottom lip. He felt a tear drop on his finger and wiped the other's away.
"I love you, Song Mingi. Please don't ever leave me " Jongho pleaded. He closed his eyes as a few tears escaped his eyes.
"Never" Mingi's hand snaked behind the nape of his neck and brought him to his chest. He felt the younger cry into the crook of his neck and felt himself tear up as well. He held the boy tight into his arms and kissed his ears, his head and forehead, still shocked that the younger had picked him as well.
