December 8, 2009.

The climate was mild, but still cold. Ice covered the soil like a blanket, dead trees standing up tall, its leafless branches creating silhouettes on the snow.

In the middle of the forest stood a small cottage home where the two--now three--Kaslanas lived. Inside was warm, lit by a fireplace. It smelled like wood, but not the rotten kind, fresh, is what you would describe it as. The home was small, yet spacious, able to fit in a whole couch. There was a hallway with three rooms on different sides, one for Siegfried, one for his two kids, and an extra one for storage.

The aromatic smell of bacon and eggs filled the house as Siegfried hummed through his cooking, making smiley-faced eggs and bacon for him and his kids. He turned off the stove, put away his apron, and went to wake up his child, Kiana, and her younger sister, Karina.

Kiana, who was only 9 at this time, had been told by Siegfried that she'd be getting a new little sister. So, she's been anticipating Karina's arrival for the longest time, especially since Siegfried finally named her "Kiana". In fact, Kiana was perfectly fine with--and accepting of--having a little sister to love and care for.

Kiana arose from her sleep as she looked at Siegfried with half-lidded eyes, Siegfried spoke quietly, and instructed Kiana to do the same when he told her the news. She agreed, and stayed quiet.

"Remember when Papa said that you'd be getting a new sibling?" Siegfried asked cheerfully, Kiana nodded, "Well, Papa brought her home. Are you ready to meet her?" And at that moment, Kiana's sleepy eyes filled with energy as she gasped, but not until she put her hand over her mouth and redid her reaction, "Really?! She's here?!" Kiana beamed in a whisper voice, Siegfried chuckled and patted her on the head, "Yes! And, if my little Kaslana wants to meet her new little sister, she'd have to get ready!" He winked as Kiana jumped from the bed, practically zooming into her closet, and came out seconds later with her clothes on. As for her hair, she went in front of Siegfried as he did her icon twin-braids for her, loose and cute.

Kiana went to the dining table as she patiently waited for her dad and her new little sister.

Siegfried sighed as he picked up the note that Bronya ordered him to give to Karina as soon as she woke up, along with her bag of clothes that she used in the orphanage, as well as other clothes she'll use when she's older. He went to her bedside and gently shook her awake, saying her name gently a number of times as she woke up, her eyelids revealing her lavender-purple irises.
