Author POV:
Silence covered the room like a cloth, only the shrill and unsteady breaths from Karina's mentor arose from the soundless noise.
Karina's eyes darted around her face, examining the state Eleanor was in. A worried expression was displayed on the girl's face as she reached a trembling hand up to Eleanor's arm, lightly shaking it, "Miss Doyle, are you--"
*FLASH*
A crack was heard in Karina's voice as she was brought to a halt mid-sentence, her hand fell limply beside her as her head lowered down. Karina's long, black hair covered her face as she stayed still. Still and stiff like a statue as she said nothing.
Eleanor jolted back to her consciousness, looking around quickly, regaining memories of what has happened before she blanked out, her eyes landed in front of the girl. Realizing that something was off.
"Karina?" Bronya spoke behind her, crouching down to shake her for a response, when suddenly, Karina's hand retorted back and she swiftly stood up.
"I saw them," Karina breathed, her hands slowly staring to ball up into fists, "I saw what happened. I felt what happened, I heard every sound, every word, and every emotion."
"Karina--"
"'I don't care for her anymore', 'she can die if it means I'm free', 'I never loved her, and I never will'?" Karina bitterly reiterated and questioned the words of her sister through air-quotations, every word she recited, her voice broke and shattered. She dropped her hands, combing them through her scalp as she laughed a painful and resentful chuckle. Karina nodded slightly, then looked at both Bronya and Eleanor with red, puffy eyes
"I guess...every time Kiana said, 'I love you', it was a lie."
Bronya stayed silent, unable to speak, feeling like she just got hit by a truck with Karina's words. Eleanor, however, shook her head in denial, her heart speaking before her mind, "No, no. That's--that's not true, Karina. Kiana...she--she--she always loved you--"
"She left me for Kevin, she left me for power, she doesn't love me, she doesn't care for me, AND EVERYTHING KIANA HAS SAID TO ME WAS ALL A LIE!" Karina screeched through broken tears, her glass-heart shattering into thousands of pieces.
