Chapter 18: Kate's Discovery

"Good evening engines." Ms Avery announced one evening. "Now I need an engine to take some trucks to Traintown tomorrow morning."

"I'll take them ma'm." Lenry said. "I enjoy pulling goods trains."

"I think I might be the best engine for the job." Dorles spoke up. "I'll show em who boss."

"Pick me ma'm." Hans said excitedly. "My class was made for pulling goods trains."

"I don't really mind taking them Ms Avery." Amanda said.

"Pick me, ma'm!" Renee squealed. "Pick me! Me! Me! Me! Me!"

Kate just listened to the engines arguing. "Engines these days I tell ya." She sighed.

"I know you lot want to take the train." Ms Avery said to the engines, then she looked at Kate. "But, I think Kate should be given another chance."

Kate gasped, she couldn't believe what she had heard, she was going to take the troublesome trucks again. Kate really didn't want to though.

That night at Southampton II station, Liane was assigned to take the midnight express. As Ian was shunting Liane's coaches and shunted them towards the LNER A3, while she was waiting for the passengers to board she along with Christian was talking to Kate.

"I can't take the troublesome trucks guys!" Kate said worryingly. "Christian, don't you remember on what happened last time?"

"I remember it quite well." Christian said.

"From what I've heard from Christian." Liane said. "That he, along with Keshaun, Andrea, Emma, and Stephanie saved you. You've could have gotten yourself into an accident if it wasn't for them."

"I know." Kate said. "I'm worried I might crash and no one would be around to save me."

"It's alright, Kate." Liane reasurred. "things could be worst."

"Thanks, Liane." Kate said sarcastically. "That makes me feel so much better." 

Liane and Christian just chuckled.

"I have an idea." Christian spoke up. "From what South told me, when the troublesome trucks start misbehaving he usually starts biffing them or zones out on them."

Kate took that advice to think about soon the guard's whistle blew and Liane was off with the midnight express and Christian was off with the mail train.

Morning soon came, Kate was waiting at Southampton II with Rowan waiting for her trucks. Olivia was also there, she was going to help Kate with the trucks. However, Kate was very scared.

"I really don't want to do this." Kate said nervously.

"You'll be alright Kate." Rowan replied. "I've pulled trucks many times before, and I show 'em who's boss."

"Alright." Kate said.

 Hammond soon arrived with Kate's trucks. "Here are your trucks, Kate." he said as he coupled the trucks to Kate's tender. The troublesome trucks giggled all except for the water tanker in front of them. 

"Just ignore them Kate." The water tanker said.

Kate toke a deep breath and when she heard the guard's whistle she was off. "I can do this. I can do this." Kate muttered to herself.

As Kate made her way down the main line everything was going fine, but it wasn't long before the trucks became their usual troublesome selves.

"Clickity clack, don't look back, Silver link is on our track." The trucks sang.
