Chapter 21: A Boastful Class 43

Scarlet, Jersey, Wolferton, Vulcan, Hawk and Jackala the new engines has begun to enjoy life on the Godson Railway. They seemed to brighten up everyone's day whenever they see them, they would always smile back at them. Scarlet, Wolferton, Vulcan, Hawk and Jackala were also hard workers, making sure the goods and the passengers were on time and have been sorted out without a fuss or worry.

Scarlet and Jackala got along with the other female engines like Henrietta, Kate, and Violet, as well as Magenta, Angel, and Lisa. Jersey, Wolferton, Vulcan, and Hawk on the other hand got along well with the male engines like Eric, Christian, Keshaun, Hammond, Clarkson, and May, as well as Max, Rodney, David and Denis.

Today, Vulcan is taking the local, earning the responsibility from Eric by Ms Avery. As Vulcan puffed down the main line, he took a look around the scenery around him. Today is a very nice day for a run.

Vulcan arrived at Croft station right on time. He watched as the passengers disembark, some going to travel by foot, or even waiting for a bus. A moment later he heard a whistle, he looked over to see Hawk arriving at the station with a goods train, with a smile on his face.

"Morning Hawk. Talk about being on time." Vulcan commented to his friend.

"Yeah. If you're not early, your late." Hawk said back to him. "Anyway, you've got a full schedule ahead of you for today?" He asked.

"No. Just got this train for this morning, then once I reach Traintown Renee will take over." Vulcan replied. "Then I have to collect a freight train for the farmers."

"Okay. Well, good luck." Hawk blew his whistle, and he went off down the line with his train.

After a few more minutes, Vulcan was soon underway again, heading off towards Traintown. He kept to the time and to the speed limit, the passengers singing their praises. Eventually, he soon arrived to the station on time. Once he arrived, he was uncoupled from the coaches, and headed off to the yards to find his next train. When he arrived, he could hear Eric, Olivia, Christian, Andrea, and Clarkson talking to each other.

Traintown Yard is a large shunting yard in Traintown, located just south of the station. It has a goods station, a triple-road shed, and an overhead signal box.

"Gee Clarkson, your face is looking like Christian's paint." Andrea said, noting the LNER A3's exhausted face.

"It's just the influx of passengers and goods that has been going on lately." Clarkson explained.

"I know how you feel, even the shunting has increased." Eric agreed. "Olivia and I had come over here and help Christian and Andrea with the extra work load."

"Things just haven't been the same since Henrietta and Lenry left." Christian sighed.

"Excuse me." Eric, Olivia, Christian, Andrea, and Clarkson all looked over to see Vulcan pulling up next to them. "I'm sorry for eavesdropping on all of you, but what's going on?" He asked hesitantly to them.

"Oh. Hey, Vulcan. Sorry for that, we were just discussing on the amount of workload has increased ever since Henrietta and Lenry left." Olivia explained to the red tender engine.

"When did Henrietta and Lenry leave?" Vulcan asked.

"They left two days ago, since they are on loan for a railway called the Josephine Railway, a heritage railway much like our own, to help with the work." Clarkson explained. "And after they left, the workload increased, and it's been one job after another. I fear our railway might enter a gridlock if this keeps up." 

"Well, it might not be a problem for long." Vulcan spoke up. "I heard that Ms Avery had borrowed an engine from another railway to help with the extra trains, and they should be here tomorrow."
