CHAPTER 18 - ILLEGAL THINGS

After an hour or so we arrive wherever Ryder was planning to take me. As we parked in front of a freakishly weird building I turned to look at him confused; "I don't go to clubs. I'm only sixteen."

He turned off the engine and smiled "Don't worry." He assured me "They are all friends here." He got out of the car and I unbuckled my seat belt and followed after him, looking nervously the crowded line outside of the club, in front of us.

Ryder had driven us to another city, just an hour away from Oakheart and at first I didn't know why but now I did; Oakheart didn't have any clubs. And definitely not Ryder's style ones.

"What kind of club is this exactly?" I whispered as I saw most of them with black leather jackets, weird colored hair and tattoos all over their bodies. They all looked like older versions of Ryder.

"Rock- Goth." He simply answered

I gulped "Great."

He smiled "Don't worry." He said "If you get scared you can simply hold my hand."

I was just in the middle of telling him that it wouldn't be necessary and didn't even noticed he had skip the line and had reached the front door of the club when I noticed the bouncer and almost pied in my pants. Immediately my hand found Ryder's and squeezed it hard.

He chuckled "Hey Greg." He greeted the bouncer with a handshake -from his left hand since I was holding the other one for life.

"Ryder West." Said the bald scary tattooed guy in a sign of recognition. "Haven't see you in a while." His scarily big black eyes traveled to me for the first time making me froze in place "Got yourself a lady I see."

Ryder laughed and looked at me smiling "You can say that."

I looked up at him taken aback and he just simply stared back at me intensely. Greg coughed making me break eye contact and look at him embarrassed.

"Okay enough with the eye sex both of you, you making me uncomfortable."

Ryder -who was still looking at me- smiled and turned to look at him making me let out a breath I was holding "Still looking for a girl?"

"Yeah." He said "Apparently I'm to goddamn scary for them."

They laughed at some private joke of them and then he opened the door for us to get in. Loud music blustered from inside. "Have fine. It was nice meeting you." He said holding his hand out for me to shake and I did it almost immediately so I won't seem rude "You too."

"Thanks. See ya man." Ryder said pushing me slightly forward with his hand on my lower back to lead us inside the club.

"He seemed really nice." I said honestly. I shouldn't have judged him so quickly.

We walked in a dark narrow hallway with posters on the walls and at the end the hallway opened up to a much wider space. There was a big stage with a band dressed up pretty much like Ryder was playing an awfully loud music that didn't really made any sense. The rest of the room was filled with people dancing and there was a less crowded wide bar counter at the other side.

"He is." He said and I turned to look at him confuse before I realized he was talking about the bouncer "Remember what I told you the first day I met you?" he said over the music.

I grimaced "You said a lot of things..."

"I told you that some of the nicest people I've met are covered in tattoos and piercings and some of the most judgmental people I know are the ones that go to church on Sunday's like you." Ah wise Ryder.
