CHAPTER 4 - A GOOD GIRL CAN BE A DUMBASS SOMETIMES...
"OMG Chloe I can't believe you met the infamous Ryder West! You are such a badass! How was it? Was he scary? Did he try to sell you drugs? You said no right!?"
I should have known better when I told my best friend Annabelle not to yell that this was exactly what she was going to do. Annabelle wasn't exactly someone who could hold a secret. She was more like the "kiss and tell" kind of girl.
"Jesus Annabelle." I whispered-hissed at my enthusiastic best friend "Keep your voice down will you? My parents are still in the next room!"
She giggled and put a hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry but I just can't help it Chloe. You are such a badass! You, like, need to tell me everything ASAP." She re-considered it "So Now!"
I knew I shouldn't but couldn't help but indeed feel a little 'badass' or whatever as I looked at my best friend's excited and impatient face, ready to find out all the 'scandalous' details. Of course they weren't scandalous neither a 'big deal'.
But I could see where her excitement came from.
Girls in Oakheart were really naïve and... inexperienced (Take me as an example). Most of them hadn't even talked to a boy before because that's how they were raised by their families; believing that 'boys were just boys' and had nothing else in their mind but harass girls. Even my old school parents thought this was stupid.
Anyway, not that I wasn't naïve or inexperienced but at least I had interacted with some guys before -the perks of being the school's president. It wasn't really a big deal since most of them were amateur and... kind of wusses (excuse my language). Hmm... maybe after all that's why girls didn't interact with them so much. All the girls -along with me- were crushing for the senior boys -like Ryder. Even though most of the seniors were nothing like Ryder. Didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing. The senior guys were just... from another universe or something. I mean... they were seniors!
A lot of them even had a thing for Annabelle but then again who didn't? She was the beautiful type, you know? blonde long hair, clear glowing skin, funny, sweet, loving... what was there not to like? Of course I didn't pass unnoticed either - I was Chloe Anderson after all- but to be honest I never really 'gave in' or flirted back with anyone. Mostly because I wasn't allowed to be in any kind of relationship before I turned eighteen - maybe not even then- and also because every guy thought I was too good for them and out of their league. So they got really shy and never asked me out because they were afraid of being rejected. To be honest I didn't really wanted to go out with someone who didn't have the guts to ask me out.
"I already told you everything! We met two days ago, we .... 'Hang out' on the roof and I run into him again this morning at Target."
Annabelle put a hand over her heart. "And he gave you the money for the rum, how sweet!"
I sat beside her on the bed "Sure, it would have been if he hadn't 'borrowed' it in first place."
"Aha, yeah whatever you say Chloe." She tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder and smirked. "So tell me... do you like him?"
"What!?No!" I said automatically. This is why I shouldn't have said anything to her! She sure knew how to make something a big deal over nothing! "Of course not he's Ryder West, he's bad news, let's not forget about that!"
"But he is so hot!"
Like pretty much every girl in the school Annabelle surely had a crush on him. But of course - just like every other girl in school- she didn't dare to come anywhere near him. It was really surreal how someone could be hot and scary at the same time.
