CHAPTER 56 –HALF A HEART

Annabelle's face was a mixture of surprise, disgust and what looked like sympathy as she turned to face what was in front of her; Myself and not on my very best If I may add.

"Wow, you are like really sick." She commented, taking a good look at me.

I gave her a dry look "No shit Sherlock." I said my voice sounding like I had smoke ten packs of cigarette.

One good look at myself in the mirror and I was proved right; I couldn't look any worse. My eyes could barely stay open, my nose was red from blowing it all weekend and was running like the Niagara Falls and... well, basically I looked like an addicted crack head on a dark alley selling drugs. I would have look worse though to be honest.

I closed my locker and we started walking down the hallway to our class although I felt like I wouldn't even make it halfway there. I was cold, I was sweaty, I was exhausted and I wanted to go home.

"Are you sure you don't want to go to the nurse's office? You look really pale. You need to go home and rest Chloe that's what I did and the flu I had."

"No." I protested "I need to take that Biology make up test."

She rolled her eyes "You got an A minus get over it."

"Well I can but I don't think Harvard will."

She raised her hands up in defense "Why are you even going to apply for Harvard, I don't understand. You don't like studying law."

I nodded "I don't. But it's the only way for my parents to pay, well to think they are paying for my Harvard tuition when in reality they will be paying for the Parsons New School of design tuition." I let out a dreamily sigh at the thought of it.

And so did Annabelle "Just one year left. One year and we'll be living in our own apartment in New York, getting breakfast every day at Starbucks then going to our dream school and then have Illegal cocktails at the rooftop of Four Seasons." She clapped excitedly "I can't wait!"

Neither could I. One more year and everything would be finally perfect!

A couple of hours later when the bell finally rang for lunch, I truly believed I was going to die. I had never been so ill my whole life and I blamed me for that of course. I wanted to swim on the beach at six in the morning In December? Well I could pay the price now.

When Annabelle dragged my body to the cafeteria, our friends looked at me alarmed and immediately made some room for me to sit.

"What happened?" Ryder asked his voice as hoarse as mine, although in his case it sounded sexy. He seemed to be sick as well, not as me but close enough, with his nose red and his eyes a little bit red on the inside just like mine.

"I'm sick happened." I said my voice matching his and making Phil find it amusing enough to laugh. "Shuuut uuup." I groaned at him, resting my head on Ryder's shoulder.

Mel laughed "What did you both do to get so sick? You look like a fucking mess."

I coughed, covering my mouth with my hand "We went swimming on the beach at six in the morning."

Jared made a sound of understanding "So that's why you asked Mike to pick his motorcycle from the beach?"

I could imagine Ryder glaring at him "No, I just felt like abandoning it there Jared." He answered sarcastically.
