A/N

Today it rained for the first time in months for like two seconds and I made hot chocolate, wore a sweater and started making my Christmas list. Why am I like this?

I'm completely overwhelmed by all your sweet messages and the questions you keep sending me about the book. I'm sorry if I don't reply to your messages but I swear I see them all. I'm not snob or anything lmao, I just really don't have the time. Hopefully you understand :)

I'm literally uploading this at four thirty in the morning. Again, why am I like this? But that's fine though because it's one of my favorite chapters ;)

Next chapter will be Ryder's POV of Prologue.

Enjoy you flawless human beings xx'

CHAPTER 53 - THANKSGIVING

Have you ever seen that picture of a crowded room having fun and two girls sitting on a table all by themselves having the most boring night ever? Yeah that was Annabelle and I.

It was Thanksgiving and we were all at the country club's party supposedly "celebrating" this so important American day. But there was nothing interesting enough in here for me to keep me excited and to make me want to celebrate this day. I would rather be anywhere but here right now to be honest.

Annabelle stared at her full plate the whole time, seeming even more bored than I was. Then again that's how she had been this past week.

"You are not hungry?" I asked her.

She shrugged "I don't like turkey."

I frowned "Since when?"

"Since now i guess. I tried some before and it made me sick. I don't now why." her eyes widened as she spotted the waitress bring a bowl of mashed potatoes to the table "Mashed potatoes on the other hand." she never finished her sentence as she started stuffing her mouth with it.

I had never seen her like this before. Normally she would be careful of the things she ate but recently she didn't care at all. I guess Jared had something to do with it.

I chuckled "That's a really pretty sight Annabelle." I remarked and it was the only thing of the night that actually made me laugh.

I sighed as I fell back to my chair and looked around.

I missed Ryder so much. I didn't want -and I wasn't - one of these girls that wanted their guy to be with them all the time but right now I felt like I needed him to be here. Just his presence only would automatically make everything better.

After Annabelle finally stopped eating we took a walk outside in the chilly night. The gardens of the country club were, in one word, beautiful and I loved the smell of rain when it fell on the grass.

When we walked to the back of the  country club we heard familiar voices and we turned to look at each other before walking that way. We were surprised to find Jared, Phil, Mel and the rest of the squad there.

"What are you guys doing in here?" I asked them as we approached them, looking around at any possible sight of Ryder.

"We came for the partay." Jared said as Annabelle went and sat down next to him on the cold grass.

I nodded "Oh. Where is Ryder?"

I got my hopes up too quickly. "Home, he didn't want to come."
