I wake up by gunshots. I jump up while Miles does the same next to me. His arms are still wrapped around my waist. Loud knocks come from the door making both of us jump. "KIDS WAKE UP NOW!"
We scraddle out of bed and run down the stairs. Sandra is already down with Eva in her arms. Lira and Noah are down in less than a second.
"The attack. It's happening." Sandra says with tears in her eyes. "They're blowing everything up. We have to go to the safe bunkers."
Miles grabs my arm and yanks me with him. Before i even know what we're doing we're already running. I look back and see houses completely burned to the ground. As i focus back forward i see dead bodies laying on the ground.
Lira does let out a scream as a body collapses right in front of her. Noah pulls her with him before she manages to fall.
I don't know for how long we run but not one second goes by that you can't hear the gunshots, the screams, the yelling, the people running for there lives as much as us.
Suddenly a loud bomb goes off. My body flies back and lands hard on the ground. For a second i can't breath. I stand up weakly and look around. "MILES!" I can't even hear my own screams. "MILES!"
I look around from side to side trying to find him. He's nowhere to be found.
I see people around me get murdered and it doesn't take long for me to start running again. I run as far away from the noise as possible, but it really isn't possible. It's coming from everywhere. I force myself to keep running. I refuse to die tonight. I refuse to die after everything i have already sacrificed for it.
I see a body laying on the ground. There are so many bodies on the ground but this one sticks out. I recognize it. I freeze when i realize who it is. I step closer to the body while me eyes start to water.
When i'm close enough i can see that his eyes are still open. Colder than ever. The colour has completely left his eyes. His body is as white as sea foam. Not one sign of life is still in his body. I close his eyes with my fingers and let the tears spill down my cheeks as i whisper to him.
"I'm sorry dad."
I pull away and start running again.
Suddenly i bump into someone as i look up i wrap my arms around him in the matter of seconds. "Omg, Kaya." Caleb's voice rings in my ear. "Everyone is already by the bunkers. They're all looking for you"
He pulls away from my embrace and pulls me with him. I notice he has a gun in his other hand. We reach a path surrounded by high trees. My breathing is uneven and Caleb must notice. "We are almost there Kaya. Look the bunker's already in sight." I look to where he is pointing to see a very big grey building.
A small smile forms on my face. The idea of my friends and i being safe is the best thing i could ask for right know.
But all of that is sucked away from me just like my smile dissapears from my face when i hear the gunshot. Caleb pushes me behind a tree as he fires with his own gun at the man.
