Chapter 20 : Between me and Miles

I woke up at 15:00 in the afternoon.

Lira is already awake and she immediately complained about her headache. First i laughed but i gave her something to help. Right know i am catching up with her since she barely remembers anything from last night.

"Oh and my dad called and while i was talking to him you and Noah left togheter upstairs." i said. "We did?" I nodded and she rubbed her forehead again. "I can't remember." She chukkles. "Yeah, you were completely wasted."

"What else? I mean what did your dad even call you for and how long was i upstairs with Noah?" She asked while sipping the hot freshly made yasmin tea. "Well, he called me to check up on me and tell me he would explain to me soon why he has been lying." I thought for a second and answered her second question. "I think you were upstairs for like 10 minutes. I talked with Miles while you two were upstairs." She nodded. "What were you two talking about?"

"My mom. His dad. And don't freak out, i mean seriously don't freak out but me and him almost kissed." As soon as those words left my mouth i regretted telling her since she did freak out. She started jumping around, screaming in the proces.

"How can i not freak out? How are you not freaking out?" She screamed while sitting back down. "I'm not even sure if it was like really going to happen. We were both drunk, confused maybe and hurt because we just talked about our lost ones."

"That doesn't mean anything. I see the way he looks at you, and so does Noah." I just shrugged it off changing the subject.

"What did you do with Noah upstairs anyway? Please don't tell me the details." I was ready to cover my ears when needed but she laughed. "Kaya, like i said i don't remember much about yesterday but i'm sure we didn't do that." I just nodded and we continued talking about other stuff.

"Why don't we go to the beach?" Lira said out of nowhere. I looked outside and it is indeed a very pretty day to go to the beach. "Okay, sure why not."

The next 30 minutes we changed and made a bag. We left my house and made our way to the beach. I have done this so many times already. Walked this exact same path to the beach and still i like to go there after 18 years of doing so. I don't think i'll ever get tired of the beach.

We were only just on the sand when familiar voices were already screaming our name.

It are Alice and Caleb. We went to sit with them and immediately started talking. Apperently this weekend has been chaotic for everyone. Caleb and Alice were one of the first to leave the beach so they didn't see anything of the drama.

"So Noah and Miles stayed at your house? Two demons?" Caleb asked looking me dead in the eye. "What else were we supposed to do? They aren't bad people." I defended. "I know. There pretty nice but if someone finds out about this especially parents..." Alice began but was cut off by Lira. "They won't find out. We were carefull, we still are. We can surely be friends with them."

"Look, It's not that i think there bad or that i'm against demon's. But i do care about safety. If parents do find out or worse leader Francis, we're in deep trouble therefore i don't want to get involved in being friends with them." Caleb said and what can i say. He's right. It isn't safe. Alice spoke up and changed the subject, only the subject she was going to i didn't really like to talk about either.

"So Kaya, what's up with you and Miles?"
"What?"
"Oh, come on. We know about Lira now but you're not gonna tell me there is nothing going on between you two."

"Sorry to dissapoint but there is nothing between me and Miles other than friendship." Caleb and Alice shared a look and looked back at me obviously not believing what i said. "Are you sure?" Caleb asked. "Yes, deadly sure."

"We saw you at the party. And honestly in school he sits literatly the desk next to me. I can hear you two flirting." Alice says. "We are just joking around in class and what exactly did you see at the party?"
"Just you and Miles dancing, with his hands around your waist, and pretty close."

"We weren't that close." I state.
"Yes, you were."
"Let's talk about something else. Something more interesting."

"I find this very interesting." Caleb laughs. We start talking about school and friends. We even were talking about Caleb's cat for over 40 minutes.

We went in the ocean and mostly talked. I was very tired at the end of the day, so i wanted to go home. I said my goodbye to everyone and Lira told me she was picking her stuff up later. I nodded and made my way back home.

I still couldn't stop thinking about yesterday night. I let my thoughts of him wonder off and start thinking about my dad.

What could he possibly be hidding from me? He's coming back tommorow with who knows what news. I'm not gonna lie, i'm a little scared but more nervous. Normaly he doesn't keep things from me so this must be really important to him.

I close the door and lock it. I haven't eaten yet and i honestly didn't think about this good because i don't think i have something in house. I looked in the cabins and fridge but couldn't find much.

"Great, i can go to the supermarket now." I mumbled to myself. Without wasting time i took my keys and drove to the supermarket.

I went in and quickly got the stuff to make myself a meal and go to check out. I bump into someone and when i look up to apologize i see Elian. "Oh, hi Elian. I'm sorry about that." I say quickly and step around him. "Wait." He says behind me making me turn to him.

I wait for him to speak and observe him a bit. "You're friends with Miles Hale aren't you?" I panick but i don't show it. "Me." i laugh. "Miles Hale is someoen in my class that's all. I barely know him." "That looked different at the party, you helped him escape us."

"You said it was good to have a fight free night. I just made sure we atleast kept a very very little part of our promise." "Yeah right." " Are we supposed to be seen as the bad ones? Is that what you are trying to do?" I say stepping closer. If I wanted i could touch him, thta's how close i was. "I don't like them either, Elian. I'm just playing the roll angels play." I tell him quietly.

He smirkes and nods letting me walk away in peace know. He's very easy to manipulate.

When i am home i make food, eat and immidiately shower and get ready for bed. I lay on my bed waiting for Lira to come get her stuff.

I am half asleep when i hear my notification sound go off. I look at my phone and see Lira is here.

I go downstairs and let her in she quickly takes all her stuff gives me a hug and goes home. I walk back upstairs and when i see myself in the mirror i see that i really look exhausted.

I drop on the bed and i trun off the light ,falling asleep fast.
