With all the events of the day, I fell asleep quickly. Of course, Vincent and I talked before we went to bed. He asked me about the book I was reading. It was on my nightstand and easy for anyone to see. The conversation started because he didn't recognize the word anthropology. Regardless of our conversations, he still left by the time I woke up.
I took another shower before I got ready for the day. I had to see Conor to tell him if he wanted to see me, he'd have to treat my family with respect. I also had to do some school work. At the end of the month, I had to go to school to take a final exam. It had to be monitored. Right now, I just had Physics to complete and Statistics. I also had one last English assignment but they called it a 'senior project' and I'd have to come in to give a presentation so a teacher could evaluate me. Statistics was really easy for me (it was mostly definitions) but Physics was killing me. I was struggling. I had to really study to pass his exam. I had to start after I saw Conor today.
When I texted him, he told me he'd be at an ice rink, playing hockey. He insisted that I'd stop by. I'd have to drive there so I went downstairs. Dad was already in the kitchen, making breakfast. He greeted me and I walked around the stove to hug him. I think I took my dad for granted. I mean, I was always yelling at him, who's to say he wasn't protecting me by keeping me out of everything?
"I love you," I sighed, "I'm sorry for always being so mean to you."
Dad hugged me tighter. "I love you too, Princess. Did she hurt you or anything?" he asked, pulling away to check if I had any damage done.
"No," I denied, "I'm a fighter, like Christina Aguilera," I joked, smiling.
Dad laughed. "Alright. I'm proud of you for what you did. Don't let some slut touch you."
"Learned from the best," I said, pulling away as dad smiled. "So, anyway, I'm gonna go see Conor today," dad gave me a long look before I continued, "dad, this is actually good. I'm going to have a serious talk with him."
"Take Vin with you," he said, grabbing two plates. "I'm going to see Freddie at his place and Gio is coming with me. I'd feel better if Vinny was with you. And eat before you go, I'm makin' you something."
"I'm not allowed to see him- last night he forbade me from seeing that woman, can you believe that? I didn't do anything wrong!" I defended myself. "And, I don't really wanna see him anyway."
"It wasn't really a question, Bambina. I want Vinny to go with you," dad corrected. He reached in his back pocket, fishing out his phone and putting it to his ear. I groaned. Dad shushed me before addressing Vincent on the other line.
"How long do I have to wait?" I asked when he ended the call.
"Ten, fifteen," dad shrugged, plating the food and giving me a plate.
"Thanks," I nodded.
"Yeah," he brushed off. "How long has Vinny been staying with you?"
"Oh, I don't know, a little more than a week?"
He nodded as I took a sip of my water. "If you haven't realized yet, Donna already knew that and she doesn't like it. I'd watch your back and I'd stop seeing him at night."
"Then why is he taking me to see Conor?" I asked, confused.
"At night," he emphasized. "He's taking you because I trust him to keep you safe and it makes me feel better to know he'll be with you, and I hate that fucking kid and I know Vin does too."
"Dad," I complained. "Can't you at least pretend to like him?"
"No," he smiled and I rolled my eyes, grabbing our plates to wash off. "If you want anything, write it on the list, she's going out today." By she, he meant our shopper.
