CHAPTER ONE

OLIVIA GROANED UPON HEARING HER NAME CALLED FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME PUTTING THE BLANKET OVER HER HEAD.

"Olivia!" She figured that after the second time her mother would get the memo that she was sleeping.
"Olivia!" But that hadn't been the case.

"Coming Mom!" She yelled back still lying down.

She sat up from her bed. Maybe she'll stop calling. She laughed to herself knowing that there was absolutely no change she would not stop calling. She could just fall back asleep and risk her coming in here?

She paused cringing at the thought, yeah no thanks. Olivia pulled the covers off of herself leaving her room.

"Yeah mom?" She spoke, walking down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Olivia good morning." Lisa Fields looked at her up and down. "I see you've finally left your bed." She said going back to whatever she was making on the stove.

"Good morning mom." She said sitting down placing her head on the counter. "Not by choice." She croaked out.

Lisa rolled her eyes at her daughter. "Don't forget to have breakfast and then to take your insulin." She placed a plate of pancakes in front of her.

"Yeah ok. Didn't you need me because I haven't even brushed my teeth."

"Olivia." She said in a warning tone. Olivia let out a sigh wondering why her tone was so harsh she honestly thought she needed to chill because it was way too early in the morning to do anything.

"Mom I will take it after I eat." Olivia assured. "Now is that all?"

"Yes it is." Olivia groaned getting up.

"Honey I was thinking maybe you could get some sunlight today also?" Lisa suggested. "When me and your father were over at TannyHill he suggested you hang out with Sarah at the club, you remember Sarah right?"

Olivia furrowed her brows. "Yes mom I remember Sarah. But why would I want to get sunlight if I could stay in bed all day and watch Netflix?" She swallowed her food before continuing. "But me and Sarah aren't even friends anymore. Thanks mom but no thanks."

"Okay but it would make me happy. You don't have to hang out with Sarah it was just a suggestion.  You could do that thing what was it? Oh that list thing!"

"The bucket list?" Olivia questioned her hand falling to her head as she felt a headache arising.

"Yes the one your doctor was talking about. If it gets you out of the house."

Before she could respond her dad had walked in.

"Good Morning." He greeted, kissing her head.

"Morning dad." She said smiling lightly she watched as the two of them ignored each other, her mother and father as he headed inside the kitchen both of them standing next to each other but acting as if the other wasn't there.

Olivia tuned back in as she heard her name. "Did you take your insulin?" He asked preparing a cup of coffee.

Everyone's favorite question.

"Not yet but I will."

"Ok, I have to head to work, Wards expecting me soon so I will see you guys later." He grabbed his briefcase.

Olivia wasn't really sure what exactly he did for work, all she knew was he managed some sort of business with the infamous Ward Cameron. The Cameron family were like the Royal Family of the Outer Banks.

Olivia found the whole kook and pouge war to be two cults fighting when their classes really didn't matter.

The rich and the very low middle class.

"Are you gonna be home for dinner?" Lisa asked a hand on her hip as she watched him.

Here we go again.

"If I'm not busy." He said a light frown as he looked back at her.

"Busy to have dinner with your family?" She asked. "Ward still makes it to dinner with his family. Why can't you?"

Olivia cringed lightly at her tone. These conversations made her wish that they just got a divorce, the marriage had practically been over. The only thing keeping them together was Olivia. Though if it had actually been up to her they would have been divorced ages ago.

"Olivia."

"Hmm?" She replied confused shaking her head lightly she really needed to stop talking to herself. "Yes mother?" She repeated upon noticing the look Lisa shot her.

"Wouldn't you like it if your father came home for dinner?" She asked. "How mature of you to ask our daughter if she wants me home for dinner." Her father rolled his eyes at her antics.

Olivia shrugged. "I guess but I'm not going to be here so I don't really care."

Wait where the hell did that come from?

A sudden rush of emotion cited on Lisa's face.
"Does that mean your finally leaving the house?" She was getting a little too excited.

"Yes mom, I'm leaving the house. Before the hurricane hits at least." Maybe I could get caught in it.

"Okay then it's settled, I'll try and be home for dinner so you won't have to eat alone." He said moving closer to Lisa. "Text me if you want me to pick you up. I got to go. Love you." He says, kissing her mother's cheek and leaving the door.

Lisa rolled her eyes to herself before she turned facing Olivia. "Where are you going to go?"

She shrugged placing a cover over her plate. "I don't know. Probably a crack house." She said laughing.

Only Lisa didn't laugh.

"Mom I'm joking." She spoke softly. "I might just walk around. I could try and learn how to surf. I read somewhere that the waves in a hurricane would be the perfect time to surf."

"Are you sure?" She began tilting her head to the side.

"Mom aren't you the one who said I needed to get out of the house?" She said furrowing her brows yet again.

"Yes I did but I didn't mean today. You can help me clean today." Lisa suggested.

Let's see, stay home and clean or go out and possibly  drown.

"Yea no thanks on the cleaning. Who knows maybe I'll run into Sarah Cameron and we become the best of friends again." She said in a mocking tone.

"What about that bucket list?"

"Oh yeah, the bucket list. Good thinking mom." Olivia smiled turning around before heading up the stairs.
