CHAPTER FOURTEEN

"LIVIE I'M NOT SURE I CAN PICK YOU UP." Rafe states during our call. I lie back on my bed. I give a confused look to myself.

"My dad is making me do something with him so we're gonna be late. I won't have time to pick you up." He sounds frustrated.

"Rafe it's ok. You don't have to pick me up my parents are going anyways so I'll just go with them." I reassure him.

"Yea but I wanted to take you. It's your first midsummers and I'm your date. I'm supposed to take you."

"It doesn't matter if you take me or not Rafe,  I'm sure we'll have fun either way."

"Yea I guess. I got to go Livie my dad's calling, I'll see you later?"

"Yes I'll see you later."

As I stare at my reflection in the mirror as I criticized my choice of the dress as I slid my hands over it for what felt like the millionth time, I couldn't help but wonder what his reaction would be.

Would he like it? It didn't really matter I had already bought the dress. The dress was silk colored a baby blue, I had picked it after Rafe had told me the color of his suit.

I had left my hair out straight. After I had brushed it out I felt ready to go. I headed down the stairs to see my parents in the living room waiting for me. "Honey, you look so beautiful." My mom said as she placed a hand over my own.

"You look great and all but isn't that a little to short? Maybe I should get you a jacket." Dad says walking to the closet.

"I'm sure I'll be fine. Can we go now?" I deny the jacket my mom tries to hand me. She gives me a look which causes me to take the jacket into my hands. "You miss Rafe that much?"

"I'm not discussing this with you dad can we go now? Please." I begin to plead with him.

"Yes we can go Olivia."

When we got there the sun was about to set. It was somewhat dark. But on the outside there were little twinkling lights surrounding the beach.

"See isn't it beautiful." Mom began before she continued her eyes lighting up. "I haven't been here in so long."

Midsummer's was undoubtedly the most anticipated event of the summer for those lucky enough to be part of the elite.

"Can I go look around?" I ask whilst staring at the lights. Mom nods her head at me when I turn to look at her "Do you guys need anything?" I ask another question before I start to leave.

"No we're good go have fun." Mom spoke waving me off.

I see a server, Maybe they have apple juice?

I stop the sever. "I'm so sorry but do you guys have any apple juice by chance?" He gives me a confused expression before nodding.
