This one was pretty hard, but also really fun! Sorry if this isn't the story you wanted-

* By Dark Mage Reader, I'm gonna assume you mean Reader uses the same powers as Astor.

* ✨ backstory time✨

* You were abandoned as a small child when your parents found out you could control Malice to your will and communicate with monsters. Not long after, the Yiga Clan found you and took you in. After all, they'd be fools to reject what's essentially a mini Ganon.

* You're kept within the walls of the base as a last resort tool- a secret weapon, if you will.

* You grow up to be sheltered away from the rest of the world, only ever training within the base with other Yiga Clan members as they wouldn't want to risk anyone getting a hand on you.

* Therefore, you rarely have any interactions with anyone outside of the clan, aside from the occasional Gerudo soldier captive and sometimes some monsters.

* You do feel bad for being on their side- I mean, you didn't ask to have the powers you have, and you never asked to be kidnapped.

* But at the end of the day, what are you gonna do? Run away? And expose yourself to people who see you as a monster? Not happening.

* Not to mention, if you were ever found by the Yiga Clan again, they'd no doubt simply drag you back. They might be goofy at times, but their strength as a group is no laughing matter.

* So imagine your surprise when a single Hylian manages to sneak into the base and defeat Master Kohga.

* You're called by one of the Blademasters to come out to avenge Kohga, and are sent to go hunt down the man who dared commit such a crime.

* Just as the hero is about to leave the base, a large pillar of Malice suddenly erupts from the ground, resembling the effects of a geyser. That in itself would be shocking enough, but what catches him even more off guard is when he sees said Malice pillar open up and a Hylian with a long, flowing robe emerge from within, stepping toward him gracefully, yet hesitantly.

* As much as you insist that you will take him down, he can see the reluctance in your eyes. As you fight, there's a bit of a stumble in your step, and you're caught off guard easily.

* As powerful as you are, you've clearly never been in a real fight before, and he's easily able to knock you off your feet and point his blade to your throat.

* The fear in your eyes makes him pity you. He kneels down and quietly asks you if you truly want to fight him. When you frantically shake your head no, the sound of the Clan appearing fills your ears. They claim that you're a traitor and are about to attack, when the hero grabs your hand and rushes the both of you out of there, arrows flying by as you use your powers to shield you both.

* He brings you further and further out into the desert, and he makes sure you don't have any injuries on you. You end up passing out from the heat, and the next time you open your eyes, you're seated in front of him on a horse, his arms are keeping you steady on both sides, and your robe has been replaced with a Hylian Hood draped over your head and body, shielding the rest of your Yiga clothing from the eyes of passerby's.

* He assures you that you're safe and that he's taking you somewhere the Yiga Clan will never find. He brings you to a village, where everyone seems so... nice.

* Adults are farming and chatting away, children are playing with no care in the world, dogs are chasing their own tails and bringing smiles to people's faces- it's all so... different. A good different, of course!

* The hero- Link, he says he's named- carefully helps you off his horse and leads you into the house. He provides you with nice clothes, warm meals- a nice contrast from all the bananas you always eat!- and a small floor bed, blanket, and pillows to sleep on while you stay over.

* You're more than grateful for the blond. He saved you from the clutches of the Yiga Clan, and he's helping you get back on your feet and hide your identity, so you help out when you can, whether it be simple things like cleaning the house or shopping, or bigger things like calming monsters that are giving him trouble.

* He swears, that one time he was battling a Lynel and you just JUMPED IN THERE WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT MADE HIS HEART RATE SKYROCKET-

* As time goes on, he grows more and more protective of you. Rarely letting you leave his side and being weary of anyone within a mile radius.

* He starts bringing you out of town more often, camping in the woods and such. You'll start visiting villages less and less to the point the two of you almost forget you have a house back at Hateno.

* This is because Link knows that it's not the monsters that are a danger to you. No, it's the people.

* If they find out who and what you are, they'll kill you, and he can't bare the thought of that. Sure, you're strong, but you're far from experienced outside of the basics. So he'll make sure you're around as few people as possible.

* If he runs into someone else in the woods? He'll ask them to leave. If they don't? He's got the Master Sword and he's not afraid to use it.

* Your shyness definitely helps. He uses it as an excuse to keep you away from others and insists that if it's absolutely necessary for the two of you to go into town at any time, you should stick by his side at all times and let him do all the talking.

* As much as he knows that monsters won't hurt you, it doesn't stop him from getting a heart attack when he sees you just casually walk into a monster camp and all the creatures swarm around to greet you.

* I believe Link would be a lot more weary and confrontational in this situation.

* He's so used to fighting for his life, so when you're suddenly added to the picture and can stop those monsters from attacking, really the only threat there is left would be other Hylians, Zora, etc.

* ...but as long as you're kept away from villages, there aren't many people to be considered as threats.

* He is a bit disappointed that he can't look all cool when he swoops in and saves you from monsters, since he you don't really need him to save you. So he'll try to impress you in other ways!

* Want a snack? He's got you a meal! Wanna go horse back riding? He can take you all across Hyrule!
