So please comment your thoughts that will be fantastic! One question being, do you prefer her being called Beth or Kayla? Because I can never decide properly for the POVs hahaha enjoy!
*Beth/Kayla's POV*
I bit back the hiss that pressed to escape my throat. If he saw that I was ticked that he was here it’d be too obvious there was something wrong. My eyes narrowed at him purely out of habit.
“Don’t you ever knock?” Cole voiced from behind me.
Zane briefly glanced at him, his eyes daggers. “You’d better what your attitude, warlock.”
Cole stepped out in front of me, placing himself between me and Zane.
He squared up to him, taking advantage of the slight height difference between him and Zane.
“Or you’ll do what?”
Before Cole could defend himself he was already on the ground, his face contorted in agonising pain. Zane hadn’t touched him, but his gaze remained fixed on the blonde boy crying out against the marble floor. I threw myself into Zane’s chest, knocking us both to the ground. I landed directly on top of him. While he was still surprised by my move, I pinned Zane’s arms down to the floor, pressing my bony knees into his thighs in order to keep him there. He fought against me to get me off; he was considerably stronger than me.
But the second his concentration broke and switched to me, Cole’s torture ended. As soon as Cole’s cries stopped, I leapt off on Zane and onto my feet, placing myself between him and Cole still recovering behind me.
When he got up, I snapped my fist to Zane’s jaw.
He staggered back a step, clutching at it with one hand, his steel eyes tightening to narrow slits. I had to stop the smug grin from showing on my face. It felt so good to get back at him.
“If you want to fight, Zane, that’s fine by me.” I growled. “But you mess with one of my team and you mess with me.”
“It was a cheap shot, anyway.” Cole croaked.
Zane gritted his teeth but otherwise ignored him, keeping his eyes only on me.
A cheap shot, maybe so, but that didn’t mean that it was ineffective. Just like my healing was something only I could do, being Cairo’s son, Zane had a few unique tricks of his own. And as much as I hated to admit it, he was a lot more powerful than I was, or ever will be.
The sound of a door swinging open caught all of our attentions.
Garnet’s voice chirped just before she skipped through the doorway. “What’s all the excitement ab-”
She slid to a sudden stop as she took in the scene around her, her eyes first landing on Cole and I and finally stopping at Zane. Her once cheerful tone transformed into a menacing snarl at my rival leader. She flashed Zane a pair of sharpened canines. Jake soon followed her, imitating her reaction.
Their response seemed to amuse my older half-sibling.
“You really need to control your team, half-breed. Your Lunas seem a little unruly.”
A low growl rumbled from Garnet’s chest. I quickly silenced her with a stern look.
I spotted Jake close behind Garnet. His eyes held an amber light to them that normally occurred when he was angry, but it didn’t just signal his emotions. A dim orangey light began to glow from Jake’s hands. A small spark flickered at his fingertips.
