*Ash's POV*

Her reddish-brown eyes dilated in reaction to my sentence. I tensed. She leaned closer toward me, her mouth in line with my collar bone. Her lips parted slightly, her breath tickling my skin.

She shook her head vigorously as she pulled away, snapping herself out of her trance.

“I can’t.” she protested. “You don’t know what you’re allowing me to do.”

I looked her over. She was getting worse. Her skin was losing all of its rich coffee tone I had first seen her in, weathering away to a weak and sickly caramel colour. Her eyes had a misty film pasted over them, the new colour of her irises growing into an almost burgundy colour. She was getting weaker.

“I know that if you don’t drink some blood soon you’re going to hurt someone!” I hissed. “You won’t mean to do it but it could happen. This way no one gets hurt.”

With one finger, I tilted her chin upward so she looked at me directly.

I said the words with as much assurance as I could muster. “It’s ok.”

After a moment, Garnet slowly unravelled her arms from her torso, reaching them out to my shoulders. She gently pulled us both down so we were kneeling in the grass, my back leaning against the brick wall of my house.

She had gone back into her earlier trance, I realised, but I knew it was for the best. The sooner she fed, the sooner she’d get better.

Garnet leaned her head toward my open shirt. Every nerve in my body was aware of how close she was. They were telling me to run. This must’ve been my survival instincts, I thought. After all she was a vampire, a predator. I was just a human, her natural prey.

I felt her cool breath on my neck as her lips began to part. Before I could even think about drawing back, I felt a double sting on my throat.

My entire body froze as her fangs sank in. Oh gosh, her fangs. I hadn’t actually thought about it when I’d let her bite me. Her fangs...she was drinking from me right now. Right this second she was taking my blood from me, and I’d let her do it.

The stings grew a lot sharper and more painful as I tried to pull back from them. Garnet’s hands were supporting my neck and back, keeping me in place. When I tried moving, she just held me there, retraining me. The pain became more and more uncomfortable as I kept persisting.

Something Beth said to me echoed in my mind.

Let’s just say, the more you fight it the more it hurts.

I decided to take her advice. I tried relaxing all of my muscles, letting all of the tension in them go away.

And it felt...good. The stings from where she had bitten me were melting into a warm heat. The warmth spread throughout my body, as if I were sitting beside an open fire. The feeling was actually really pleasant. There was no pain anymore, just pleasure.

All too soon though, Garnet was pulling back from me.

I caught her gaze as she pulled back.

Her eyes were and back to their original chocolaty brown again. Her skin had taken back its old tone of rich coffee. All in all, she was back to normal.

While looking at her face, my sight also caught her mouth. On the corner of her lip I saw a trickle of crimson blood that she wiped away with her tongue. As she did so, I saw the two fangs that had pierced my skin, allowing her to drink my blood. They weren’t as large as I had thought they would be. They were long, sure, but they were only like sharpened canine teeth, around half the size larger of a regular tooth.
