*Ash's POV*

I was just about getting ready to punch Will in the face when I saw him staring at my head again in the cafeteria. “Will, do you prefer your skull attached to your neck, or would you like me to remove it for you?”

He didn’t alter from peering at the bulging lump on my forehead. He acted as if I hadn’t spoken at all. “How did you say you got that thing?”

Laughs were sent across our table as Will’s breath got knocked out of him as I shoved him in the chest. He lost his balance on his chair, causing him to fly off of his chair and onto the floor.

Mia exploded in giggles at the sight of Will landing on his arse.

“Serves you right, Will, he did warn you.”

I smiled at her gratefully. She winked back at me.

Will crawled back up onto his chair. “I was only asking a freaking question, jeez.”

I smacked him on the back of the head as he sat down. He stuck his tongue out at me and resumed talking to the others at our table.

Mia leaned forward, looking at the bump on my head as well. “In all seriousness, how did you really do that to your head?”

I folded my arms, leaning in toward her across the table.

“I was rolling in my sleep last night. I fell out of bed and whacked my head against the bedside table in my room.” I lied.

Mia giggled again. “You’re such klutz.” She turned to Rochelle, growing intrigued in hers and another girl’s conversation.

I sighed. I hated lying to my friends, especially to Will and Mia. But what else was I meant to do exactly? I couldn’t really tell them my supernatural friend knocked me out after we almost slept together, now could I?

At least they weren’t talking about Mr Campbell’s disappearance anymore. In fact, nobody seemed bothered by it anymore. The story was that he’d gone away on a spontaneous road trip in his brother’s R.V.  Honestly though, now that I knew that there was a whole other unknown supernatural world out there, a part of me nagged that something was way off about the story that had been spun out.

I shook the thought away. I was so paranoid.

This morning I’d woken up in my own bed, my room back to its original mess. Kayla left after she’d knocked me out, any sign of her ever being in my room she’d gotten rid of.

Last night felt like a dream, but I knew that it was all real. I knew that it really happened. I could still feel her lips on my mouth when we kissed last night. It had been as if we’d been in a completely different world of our own. No Night Guardians, no Shadow World, nothing. It was just the two of us and nothing else mattered.

My mouth tugged up into a smile at the memory.

Damn, it was incredible.

“Earth to Ash Gautier, come in Ash. Hello, Ash!”

Will’s booming voice shook me out of my blissful memory. Once again, I felt the desperate urge to punch him.

“What?” I snapped at him.
