"Hey.. long time no see." I glanced up to see a--regrettably--familiar face.

"And whose fault is that?"

"Oh come on, it's been years! I just wanna catch up."

"M-hm. Likely story, considering you're the one who kicked me out of your life just because I came out to you."

"Again, it's been years, I've changed-"

"That doesn't matter! You still hurt me!"

"I never laid a hand on you."

"You know that's not what I meant. Pain doesn't just have to be physical. No no, you hurt me emotionally. And I still haven't fully recovered."

"It's. Been. Years. If you're still hurt, then you're just holding a grudge."

I barked out a laugh. "No. No I'm not holding a grudge. I trusted you with who I am, before anyone else, and you told me to stay away from you."

"I was young and stupid, but I know better now. Please, can we just try again-"

"No! You aren't listening to me! I had been preparing for weeks, preparing for every scenario I could think of, getting answers to every question you might ask, then when I finally get the courage to tell you, you react the one way I didn't plan for!" I shook my head, vision blurring from tears. "You have no idea how much that hurts. I trusted you, and you told me to get out of your life. You'll never understand that...."

Neither of us spoke. Finally, they shut up. Never thought it would happen.

"Ok.. I know I messed up, but can we please try again...?"

I sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you? No means no. Besides, I'm respecting your wishes. Staying out of your life."

And with that, I left.
