At your Own Pace - Analogical

I got this idea from a roleplay, I suppose it can be considered part of the Autistic Logan AU. It's also a human AU.

Virgil was upset. The easiest way to cheer him up was by cuddling him. Logan was the only other person around. That was a problem.

Logan didn't like cuddles.

Well, it wasn't the concept of cuddling so much as the act of it. Logan got very easily overwhelmed by too much physical contact.

But Virgil was upset, and Logan needed to help him.

"Hello, Virgil," Logan said as he sat down next to his friend. "I have noticed that you are fidgeting with the sleeves of your hoodie, which is often an indicator that there is something troubling you."

"Logan, I'm fi--"

"I am also aware that you are cheered up by cuddles; therefore, I wish to cuddle with you."

"Are you sure? I don't want to overwhelm you.."

"It is only a sudden increase in contact that overwhelms me easily. If I allow myself time to adjust, it will be alright. However, I would like to have your consent first."

"Ok, fine, but the moment it becomes too much, you pull away, alright?" Logan nodded.

"The same rule applies to you, Virgil."

The first step was holding hands, which Logan did easily. He even rubbed circles into Virgil's hand, something that often quelled the latter's anxious thoughts.

After 56 seconds, Logan was ready to move forward. He look to Virgil for consent, and only pressed their legs together after Virgil nodded.

Logan could see that Virgil was calming down, but he knew more needed to be done. So, after 26 seconds--and checking again for consent--Logan rested his head on Virgil's shoulder. The steady pressure was certainly helping.

Logan had also realized that he was very touch starved. "If you wish to cuddle back, you may," he offered.

"You sure? I don't wanna overwhelm you.."

"It's want to, not wanna. And I will notify you if it becomes too much."

"Ok.." After 4.6 seconds, a gentle arm was wrapped around Logan's waist. Logan was pleased with the contact.

It took 3 minutes and 46 seconds for Logan to hear soft snoring from beside him. Virgil must have fallen asleep. Despite that, Logan stayed, as he was greatly enjoying Virgil's company. It was a companionship that he could certainly get used to.
