Sweet Pea P.O.V
"Y/N" I sighed rubbing her back as she sobbed into my chest still heart broken over the events of the last month
"Sweets I-I can't believe he did that"
Reggie and Y/N had been together since 9th grade and he cheated on her with Veronica Lodge her supposed best friend
"Y/N/N listen to me" I said raising her head to look at me "he never deserved you he's nothing more than a heartbreaking son of a bitch you deserve so much more than him"
"Why.. why wasn't I good enough?" She whispered
"You will ALWAYS be good enough Y/N/N maybe not for Mantle but for me you will always be good enough" I kissed her forehead
"Thank you Sweet Pea"
"For what?" I smiled as I pulled her back into my arms
"For being my best friend" ouch I've been friendzoned "and for being there for me when I needed you most"
"Always Y/N" I said continuing to rub her back
*6 months Later*
"Y/N the day you finally stop looking back on that relationship you'll finally start moving on" I sighed
"Sweet Pea that was 5 years of my life wasted" she sighed
"Wasted my ass, look at all the amazing things you did in those five years" I said raising my voice "just because Mantle was stupid enough to toss every amazing thing about you out the window for Veronica Lodge doesn't mean it discredits every amazing thing about you... like when you punched Chuck for beating up Fangs or when you put FP in his place for being a bad dad to Jughead and Jellybean... or when you stepped in to stop me from fighting Andrews, or how excited you get when you see a dog, or your incredible drive to do whatever you put your mind to, how you stand up for your own and leave no serpent behind, how you make friends with literally everyone you meet regardless of if they're northside, southside, serpent, or jock" I sighed I could go on and on about all the amazing things about this girl in front of me but instead I just leaned in until our faces we're mere centimeters apart searching her eyes for permission before she said
"just kiss me Sweet Pea" and with that my lips were on hers She pulled back resting her forehead on mine a content smile on her face "Sweet Pea I don't think you understand how long I've wanted to do that"
"Probably not near as long as I have" I chuckled cupping her cheeks in my hands "god I've loved you for so long.. he never deserved you"
"And I don't deserve you" she sighed hugging me
"If anything Y/N I don't deserve you you're the purest of human beings and I never thought you could love a thug like me"
"Sweet Pea you're not a thug, yes you make some bad choices but by no means are you a thug and even if you were I'd love you all the same" she kissed me softly "no what do you say we go to pops for some milkshakes"
"Yes but first" I smiled softly shrugging my serpent jacket off wrapping it around her shoulders "now everyone including Reggie fucking Mantle will know you're mine"
...
"Hey Pop" she gleamed as we walked into the small diner
"Hey Y/N! The usual?" He smiled
"You know it" she smiled looking up at me "what do you want sweets?"
"Just a burger and a chocolate shake" I smiled at pop as we made our way to a booth
Everything was going well until he walked through the door my face must've changed because it prompted her to ask what was wrong
"Reggies here" I tensed as he started walking towards us
"Oh would you look at that Y/N has downgraded from 'Mantle the Magnificent' to Serpent Scum" he smirked
"You know what Reggie?" She said raising her voice "Sweet Pea is not 'Serpent Scum' he is the only one who was there for me after YOU cheated on me with that-that harlot you now call your girlfriend" she yelled "I bet you're cheating on her too, you're nothing but a piece of shit Reggie"
Y/N P.O.V
"Ooo someone wants to be mouthy today" he smirked "you remember when you got mouthy with me when we were together?" I flinched slightly as his words "remember what I did to you Y/N?"
I remembered it clear as day
*flashback*
"Fuck off Reggie" I yelled
"How about you learn to shut your fucking mouth" he spat
"What're you gonna do about it Mantle? If you're so big and bad what are you gonna do?" Next thing I know I was against the wall his large hand firmly around my neck crushing my windpipe to the point I couldn't breathe "Re-Reggie" I croaked the anger in his eyes was terrifying as his hand collided with the side of my face I could barely get a word out before my vision went blurry and I blacked out from the lack of oxygen
I woke up the next morning on the hallway floor I stood up walking to the bathroom to check the damage in the mirror I had a slightly handprint shaped bruise around my neck and a small cut below my eye
"Y/N I'm so sorry" I heard Reggie say from the doorway
"I'll forgive you this one time just never do it again" I sighed
"I won't baby I swear" he pulled me into his arms causing me to flinch at his touch "I love you"

*end of flashback*
I felt the tears welling up as I came back to reality facing a smirking Reggie that hadn't been the last time he did that to me leaving more and more bruises every single time to the point I was skipping school for days to let them heal
"Sweet Pea we need to leave" I said tears falling slowly
"Yeah run away why don't you Y/N just remember he'll do the same thing all guys are the same" he yelled as ran out the door Sweet Pea barely keeping up I ran until I couldn't run anymore by that point I'd reached the quarry sitting down on a rock I finally let out the most strangled scream I've ever heard come from my body, Sweet Pea had lost me a while ago or so I thought until I heard him
"Y/N where the hell are you?" He yelled his voice growing louder the closer he got I quickly wiped my tears trying to hide that I'd been crying but by the time he found me my face was still puffy "Y/N/N" he sighed glad he'd found you "what the hell did that pretentious fucker do to you?" I recounted the events of that night and every other night and just any other argument we had
"I'll kill him" Sweet Pea growled
"Sweets" he cut me off
"Let me make one thing here abundantly clear Babygirl" he sighed pulling me into him "I will NEVER do that to you"
"I know Pea" I said squeezing him tighter "I'm so scared to fall in love again but I feel like it's gonna happen wether I object or not" I smiled
"I love you so much Y/N I have for months.. and if you're not ready to say that it's ok but I love you so damn much and Reggie Mantle is a dead man" he said
