Chapter 8: I'm Afraid

"We can't"

That shut Rona from speaking more. She was about to protest when Seokhoon speak up again. "Our beginning is already ruined by me. You should hate me for what I did to you not love me. This marriage was just a matter of contract. I asked my mother to offer a hand in marriage to you was just because of merging our company together, that's all. No love nor care is needed in this relationship because it's not real to me."

Rona shut her mouth and look down. "I guess I tried for nothing huh?" Rona laughs, tears coming down her cheeks before she walks towards the door. "I'll just sleep with the kids tonight." She opens the door and close it slowly. Silence greets the room as sound of sobbing starts to be heard, both inside and outside.

Both of them was crying, one wants to start their relationship over again while other one was afraid that he'll be broken again like he used to. One wants to take the risk while the other one was afraid to take the risk. Eventually, they hurt each other.

"You know that you're an idiot, right?" A voice echoed the dark silent room. "I know. You don't need to remind me everytime." Seokhoon hoarse voice answered as tears still run down his face.

"Then, why? I don't understand why you don't want to try to love her." She asked, stepping forward to him. "I'm afraid." Seokhoon whisper. "Afraid of what, Seokhoon? This is not you. The old you don't have anything to be afraid of!" She was in a state of going out of control with her brother attitude to push Rona away.

"I'm afraid of losing her!!" Seokhoon shout in rage towards his sister, Seokkyung. "I'm afraid she would leave me after knowing who I really am. You know what I did in my past life. I can't face her like this after everything I did to her. After what he to her." Seokhoon broke down again.

Seokkyung look at Seokhoon pitifully before sitting down next to him, hugging him from the side. "What happened in the past was not your fault. You didn't know that time but now you can, brother. You can be by her side and protect her this time brother. She needs you. They need you." Seokkyung went out of the room before Seokhoon could asks her what does she means by the last sentence.

It sure do leave a hundred of question in Seokhoon's head. 'What did she mean by they need me?' and many more others.

The night went by with hundreds of questions in Seokhoon head and a heart broken Rona. Rona was starting to lose hope that night, she can't sleep after what happened that night. The talk she had with Seokhoon didn't let her sleep at all. Her heart hurts when she rethinks about what he said earlier and how Seokkyung confront him earlier.

Yes, she was outside the room listening to what they talked about and she was very much clueless on what Seokhoon was talking about as in their past. 'What actually you did to me in the past?' & 'Who is that he'. She wants to go inside the room earlier to clear things up but Seokkyung stopped her and said just call it a night already. Seokkyung know how the two is hurting themselves and she didn't want it to grow into a hatred.

The next morning, Seokhoon woke up with a terrible headache so he got up and went to have a warm shower before wearing his every day suit to office. As he was walking through the hallway, the mansion felt so quiet that he questioned where is everyone.

"Omma! Are you going to work now?" He heard Seokmin shout from the outside so he went there. But something stopped his feet, "Yes baby but mommy won't be coming home for a few days." Rona voice was really close to him as if like if he opened the door, he would be right behind Rona.

"You can say goodbye to her when she's still here." Seokkyung greet him from behind. Seokhoon shook his head, "Never mind, I think she doesn't want to see my face before she goes to work." Seokkyung wants to say something again but Aera question got all of them shut their mouth.

"Who's gonna take care of us then?"

Suryeon who was outside watching the kids play looked at Rona while inside the house, Seokkyung observe Seokhoon movement who's grabbing the door tomb ready to open the door before he stops yet again.

"Your daddy will always come home to see you, my babies. Don't worry, I would video call you every day while I'm at work, okay?" Rona hugs her babies before waving to them and leave for work.

"Chase after her while she's still not far. This is your only chance to redeem what you did to her or what you think was your fault. Everyone makes mistakes once in their life time, Joo Seokhoon. But what you did was far from a mistake. I see how you search for her in high school in the past, how you want to be near her everytime and now you got it but why don't you chase it? Where's the Joo Seokhoon I know from high school? Where's the crazy in love Joo Seokhoon that I know?"

Seokkyung words woke something in Seokhoon. Yes, they went to the same high school in the past but Rona didn't know him back then because she didn't care about popular guys in school or that's what he thinks.

'Do I have a chance?' Seokhoon ask himself.
