a/n: hey sorry it's rushed but i just wanted to get something out to you guys because it's been two months :(
"Charlie, I have to ask you something," Luke called out into the apartment. He was a bit nervous about asking the girl. He felt that it was all a bit sudden. But nevertheless, Luke searched for the blonde.
She came around the corner.
"Hi."
He smiled.
"I have a question and it's a long shot and you're welcome to say no, it's completely understood if you don't want to, but would you like to come to Australia with me?" He spewed all of his words out at the girl.
"Of course."
"Okay, that's okay, we don't hav- Wait you'll come?" He almost didn't believe her.
"Of course I will. You think I'd miss the opportunity to meet your Mom? She's my new best friend, Luke, you've been replaced."
Ouch. The best friend zone. The words tasted sour on Charlie's tongue and it felt like a dagger to Luke's heart.
"Haha, sure." Laugh away the pain, Luke.
Charlie sat on his bed and caught cozy underneath the blanket.
"When are we leaving?"
He grinned bashfully, "next week..."
She squealed.
"That early? Oh my gosh, I can't wait. I've never been abroad before. I want you to tell me all about where your from," she tapped the spot next to her and Luke gladly obliged.
"So..."

The week flew by quickly. Soon enough, the pair were standing in Sydney airport with their suitcases in hand. They were looking around for a sign with their names.
Charlie turned her head to the left when something caught her eye. In big, bold and red letters read "LUKE AND CHARLIE HEMMINGS XX". Holding the sign was a fairly petite lady with blonde hair.
"I think I've spotted her, Lu," Charlie laughed.
"What? Wher- Oh. Yeah I see her too," he sighed, smacking his palm against his head, "come on then sweetheart, let's get you to meet my Mum."
Luke held Charlie's hand with his spare one and walked over to his giddy mother. Before Charlie could even get a word out, the woman jumped on her and hugged her.
"Oh my gosh, Mum, get off her."
His Mum pouted out a "nuh uh" as she squeezed the small girl even tighter.
"It's so good to meet you, Charlie. How was your flight?" She asked, dragging Charlie away from Luke - leaving him with all the bags.
"Gee thanks, Mum," he mumbled as the two women walked away.
The three of them got into Liz' SUV and drove off to the house. Luke was in the back whilst Charlie sat up front with his Mum. He played games on his phone as Liz asked Charlie every question under the sun. Soon enough, they arrived at the house.
The trio walked into the cosy home, Charlie clinging to Luke out of nerves. He smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, guiding her towards the living room. Sitting on the couch was Luke's dad, Andrew, and his two brothers, Jack and Ben. The three men smiled when they saw Luke and Charlie walking in together, happy for the youngest boy.
