Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, 1991. First Year, Start of Term.
The beginning of the first year at Hogwarts was very much uneventful, without the occasional mishaps in classes. For example today in potions class, the first years introduction. Snape burst into the class as everyone turned to look at him as he made his way to the front of the room. "There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art of potion making. However, for those select few..." Snape spoke as he then looked at Cyrus, who simply gave him a soft smirk. "Who possess the predisposition... I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death." Snape stated as he looked around the room until his eyes landed on Harry, who was writing in his notebook.
"Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not pay attention." Snape said slightly raising his voice, as Hermione and Cyrus turned to Harry trying to get his attention. "Mr. Potter." Snape called out as he moved to stand in front of Harry. "Our new celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered rot of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Snape asked as Hermione raised her hand, but Harry shook his head. "You don't know? Well, let's try again. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Snape asked as Hermione raised her hand again. "I don't know, sir." Harry replied. "And what is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?" Snape asked for a third time as Hermione still had her hand raised. "I don't know, sir." Harry replied. Cyrus then slightly raised his hand as Snape called on him. "First... You'd brew a sleeping potion so powerful it is known as the Draught of the Living Death. Second... a bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. And third... monkshood and wolfsbane are the same plant that go by the name of aconite." Cyrus asked as Snape had a proud smile of his face. "Well done Cyrus. As expected of my prize pupil. 10 points to Slytherin." Snape said as the other Slytherin students smiled. "Pity. Clearly, fame isn't everything... is it, Mr. Potter?" Snape asked a bit cynically. After that little interaction, the rest of class went smoothly.
Sometime later everyone was gathered in the Great Hall for lunch. "Eye of rabbit, harp string hum. Turn this water into rum." Gryffindor Seamus Finnigan chanted as he kept waving his wand at a glass of water. "What's Seamus trying to do to that glass of water?" Harry asked Ron. "Turn it to rum. Actually managed a weak tea yesterday, before..." Then with flash of light and a small boom, Seamus had managed to make the spell backfire and explode on himself, as everyone laughed.
Cyrus looked over to Gryffindor table and witnessed everything, shaking his head. Cyrus then stood up from his table with a plate in hand and began to grab different foods, as he heard an owl screech. Then dozens of owls flew in and began to drop packages. The daily mail was here. Once Cyrus finished getting his food he made his way over to Gryffindor table. Then a Gryffindor boy by the name of Neville Longbottom, opened the little box he had received, revealing a crystal ball with a large gold ring around it.
"Hey, Look! Neville's got a Remembrall." The dark skinned, Gryffindor boy Dean Thomas exclaimed. "I've read about those. When the smoke turns red, it means you've forgotten something." Hermione explained as a puff of smoke appeared inside the crystal ball and quickly turned red. "The only problem is, I can't remember what I've forgotten." Neville stated as Cyrus approached the table. The Slytherin boy then turned his attention to him. "Neville, I believe you may have forgotten your robes." Cyrus stated as Neville looked at everyone and then himself, realizing he had forgotten his house robes. "Thanks Cyrus." Neville thanked the champagne blonde as the Slytherin boy gave him a kind smile before sitting next to Hermione.
