Y/N was searching for Alpine with Aaron and Mara, walking down the street as they called for the kitten.

After she had returned home, she was shot with several questions, mainly if she had seen Alpine. When Y/N replied with a 'no', Aaron and Mara grew more worried.

Y/N, Aaron, and Mara stopped and turned towards the rustling sound in the nearby bushes of the house nearby.

"Alpine!" Aaron let out a breath of relief, but his expression dropped when Amy emerged from the bushes with a bundle of blankets.

Mara gasped at the sight as Aaron's shoulders slumped.

Amy sighed in regret, "I didn't wanna come until I'd wrapped her up,"

Y/N looked sorrowful at the deceased kitten in her friend's arms, "What happened to her?"

"Found her in my azalea bushes. Don't know how many leaves she ate. I didn't find her until it was too late. Oh, Aaron, Mara, I'm so sorry," she added to the kids.

Turning to each other, Aaron and Mara exchanged a nod, tears welling up in their eyes.

Noticing this, Y/N interrupted, "Wait, don't!"

"Don't what?" Mara frowned at her mother.

"Don't age yourselves up," she elaborated, "The urge to run from this feeling is powerful. I know, I know how it feels," she rubbed the sides of both their arms, offering comfort.

"It's too sad," Aaron took a deep, shaky breath.

"You can fix anything, Mom," Mara blinked at her mother, "Fix the dead."

"What—" Y/N spluttered, "No,"

"You can do that?" Amy chided from behind them.

But Y/N didn't respond and continued to talk to her kids, "I am trying to tell you that there are rules in life, okay? We can't rush aging just because it's convenient," she chuckled humourlessly, "And we can't reverse death. No matter how sad it makes us. Okay? Some things are forever,"

"You said that 'family is forever'," Mara argued, "She is family. Bring her back, Mom."

"Bring who back?"

Bucky was heading back from work, eventually running into his family and Amy. His hair was tousled slightly and his sleeves were folded up a few times.

Amy sighed, slightly gesturing to Alpine dead in her arms and obscured with a blanket. Bucky immediately caught onto what may have happened.

"Come here, you two," He pulled Aaron and Mara towards him as they both hugged their father's leg with pouts of heartbreak and silent sobs.
