The Avian race is unique, much about them is left to be uncovered. They have colorful wings and hair, and can fly for hours on end if they push themselves enough. This is seen when Kahili pressures himself throughout his four chapters and flies sometimes up to 3 hours. Of course, this kind of self-pressuring isn't healthy, but the Avian species has limits much higher than a human.
Avians usually have wings of one color with heterochromia being common among them. Having multicolored wings is extremely uncommon, which is exhibited by the many glances that are aimed toward Kahili, who has dark grey and blue wings. Avians with multicolored wings, however, have hair only in the base color of their wings.
The Avian naming system is inspired by Hawaiian names, and they mainly resided in the Kawaiin islands of Felden before being kicked out by Felinas and humans. Because their feathers could be used to line clothing, many Ardonians took up occupations as Avian hunters. Of course, this is an extremely dangerous task to undertake, and most hunters are brought to their doom by their prey and overconfidence.
Throughout chapters 3 and 4, you may have noticed Kahili splitting his bow into two blades and reforming it. That's because Avian bows aren't traditional wooden longbows like ones you normally see. They're made of iron and the string is formed by a kind of magic no one really knows anything about. Some theorize it to be an enchantment, others say they use redstone. You can even come up with your own theory about this, as I didn't think that far about this part of the Avians' lore.
In the first chapter, it is mentioned that stories were once told of Avians controlling the wind. I will neither confirm or deny that, as, once again, I don't want to downplay others' headcanons and concepts. These stories are similar to all the buzz about Herobrine back in the golden age of Minecraft, they can not be confirmed or denied.
The last thing about the Avians I wanted to talk about was the way they're portrayed similarly to Mandalorians: skilled, agile, and enduring. This was intentional; the entire species was inspired by the Mandalorians. Avians were a sort of "what if Mandalorians were in Songs of War?" thing, then I remembered an old character I made who was a human-phantom hybrid. However, I needed to create new lore for my new species, and now we have the winged master archers that rule the skies.
