Lauren pushed the key to her house, unlocking it. The night wind blew her hair, making a few strands of her hair out of its place. She pushed the door, finding her father and her brother sitting in front of the TV, watching an 8-pm show.
"Hey kiddo." Her father gave her a tired smile. He must be working hard today, Lauren thought to herself. That's not good for his health.
Being a janitor might seems easy to most people. But being one of the janitors in a 37 story building, with many snobs looking at you with their nostrils instead of their eyes, can be hard at times.
She puts her bag down on the floor and joins her two most beloved person.
"How's the tutoring stuff going?"
She shrugged. "It was good, I guess." Her eyes trained back on the television. "Cote is okay."
Her father nodded as a reply.
"What about you, Dad? Did you find the winner of the snobbiest person of the day?" She asked her father playfully, a grin wasplastered on her face.
Her father smiles while shaking his head. "Your brother has been asking the same thing."
She looked at her brother, who was already looking back at her.
"Come on, Dad. It's just for fun!" Alby exclaimed.
"Fine fine," their dad smiled. "But this doesn't mean you can judge people by their outer looks, alright?"
"Kay, dad." The siblings replied.
But sometimes, people do act like their outer looks, Lauren mused herself silently.
As if hearing his daughter's thoughts, his dad nudges her. "Lauren?" "Alright, Dad." She put out her hands in surrender while a silent smile played on her face.
After their father was assured that his kids will do as they're told, he told them the story about the man who apparently, won the award of snobbiest person of the month. Their father said he -the snobby guy, that is- has a caramel colored hair
Caramel? Just like the butt-
She shook her thoughts off. No more of that thought remember?, she reminds herself. The fact that she just saw him at the pizza place and him talking to her, made her absurd mind goes rabid.
She then keeps on focusing on her father's talk about the snobbiest person award thing that they created themselves, and she fortunately succeeds of doing so.
After the family finished laughing and watching TV for a bit, her father opened his mouth to ask them a question.
"This Sunday, uncle Rudi and his fiancée is in the state for three days, and they invite us to dinner. You guys wanna come?" His father asked.
Rudi is their father's younger sibling, who apparently isn't very good at choosing a bride. At least that's what Lauren thinks.
"But his fiancée is kinda annoying, dad. I prefer Tina, she is sweet and caring and, much much much friendlier than his fiancée." Alby said, "But where there are free foods, I go!" he said pumping his fist up in the air.
Her dad just laughs for a reply. "Well, we must respect uncle Rudi's bride decision. Maybe Lola have something different than what Tina has..."
"But it seems impossible that Tina doesn't have the thing's uncle Rudi needed in a bride!" Men could be stupid at times.
To Lauren, Tina is a perfect definition of a caring woman. That is proven when she visited them when she was 12 and Alby was 3. Back then Lauren was a shy kid, always hiding behind her father's legs.
