"So what do you need help with?"

"This is something you absolutely do not have to do but I would appreciate if you did but... I would like you to... commit murder."

His words brought stones down my oesophagus, making swallowing painful with the nervous lumps in my throat. I inhaled deeply realising, that, yes this was my life now but where is the line?

God, I've already crossed the line.

Fuck it.

"Alright, who and when?" I rubbed my forehead, accepting me dealing away my life to the devil in the form of a beautiful man. I crinkled my nose deeply in consideration, flicking through the minuscule amount of good memories my mind had to offer at that time. I had already agreed, this was not the time for consideration. "Tomorrow at 4pm I will be at a meeting and I'll be interviewed about the accusations, I need you to take the ghost face uniform and kill someone." He sounded insane, but what chilled me the most is that I knew what he meant by everything and I was already planning. My appetite was long gone and my pancakes weren't breakfast but leftovers. "Let me explain..."

"You need to kill them with my signature blade because the CSI team will recognise the difference between a tactical hunting knife and someone's blunt kitchen knife, in the exact way I do, multiple sparse stab wounds. Never slit the throat, make it bloody, and snap a pic, flash and all." He talked me through it as if he was helping me with simple mathematics. "But how am I going to pull off the phone call?" I frowned. "The mask has a voice changer, if you turn it to 70% raspiness instead of 40 then you should be good to go, also try deepen your voice, it's hard to identify differences when it's altered and through a shitty telephone." Danny ushered me to come along to his room, which was cluttered. He showed me quickly but thoroughly how to work the machine. "Also, say things to intimidate the recipient, make sure to use the catch phrase 'what's your favourite scary movie?' or else it could be anyone, specify who you are." We sat on the end of his bed and he continued his instructions. "Now for the tricky part."

Danny led me outside into my backyard, which thankfully was covered by evergreens so my neighbours couldn't watch our strange acts. "Pretend the door's locked, now creep around the side of the house and check for open windows, even a crack will do." Danny had gone inside my house prior and had set up opportunities for me to take and this was pretty much a test. He also specified to never break glass unless needed, and do it with the butt of his knife. Always hit the corners.

I walked around the left side of my house to see he had opened the one window I never open, the dining room. I never used the dining room so if this was actually on me I'd be dead... wait it was. "This is where I came in from." He eerily added. "But why were the windows open above my sliding doors in the living room then?" I turned to him with a inquisitive face. His face turned to shock. "You really are observant, I'm surprised you caught onto the lie so quick." "Well I have a knack."

Time skip.

Danny and I were both tense about tomorrow but we managed to cope down in the living room, in blankets while it stormed outside. I think he was watching Law & Order, funny huh. I was busy scribbling on a notepad. And no, I never did get that nice walk in the park.

"Y/n, come here." Danny broke the 40 minute silence. I stood up from the chair I was in, grabbed my blanket and slumped down next to him. "I know it's nerve wracking, I do but feel free to back out at any time." He turned to me, rubbing my arm. "It's whatever, I'm still doing it." I yawned tiredly as I laid down, facing away from him. "Can I hold you?" He shyly muttered. "Go for it." I couldn't care less, I was exhausted.

He lay behind me, under the blankets with me. He adjusted the pillow under my head so it was under both our heads before wrapping his arm around my waist. He put his face in the back of my neck, his warm breath on my skin made me shiver. I could sleep like this, with him. The heavy rain pattered roughly on the doors near the couch, loud even through the curtains and blinds. I couldn't recall the last time I was actually held by another
human being like this but it was bliss.

Tomorrow day

"Hey, Y/n. It's time to get up and shower." I was gently shook awake by Danny. He seemingly had carried me to my bedroom last night to prevent me getting a chill, how considerate. I processed that this was no normal day, well, not for long. I was about to break into someone's house and murder them... only to photograph their dead body afterwards. Great. Amazing. From my trance-like state, I woke up fully, the reality of the scenario seeping into my lungs and into my bloodstream.

"Hello, earth to Y/n? Don't go back to sleep on me!" He clicked his fingers. "I'm alive! I mean awake!" I flinched slightly. "Sure, ok. The uniform's washed and clean. Don't worry about the height difference or anything because you're not meant to be seen but it's just to show that you're 'The Ghostface'." Danny stretched and watched me get up from my sleeping state. He hasn't changed me for bed, I didn't mind too much since my clothes were comfy and I was happy with his respect for me and my modesty. "So I have until 4? It'll be dark then so this will
go according to plan... and wait. You never told me where I was supposed to be going." I remembered. "Ooo! This is the fun bit! You get to pick anyone you like!" Danny was technically squealing with glee. "So, who do you want to kill?" He questioned eagerly.

"I have someone."

Sorry this chapter was short! But I have a lot planned for the next chapter ;)
