Exhausted, I lay in my bed, my hair still a little damp. I was curled up to Danny, my head on his chest. I could hear every calm pump of blood around his body. He ran his fingers through my hair, like a lullaby, because I was pretty much asleep from it. He moved his hand to click off the lamp and pulled the covers higher over us both.
"Goodnight." "Night."

The next day.

I lazily tucked my blouse into my black jeans. Danny was taking me to work today, to give me the essence. He says that if I like it I can be his assistant, which I was looking forward to. "You look stunning, Y/n. I do have one rule though: you are to refer to me as Jed or Mr. Olsen. Alright?" Danny looked deep into my eyes. "Alright." I leaned forwards and let him hold me in his arms. "Shall we go? I'll drive." He held me back a little by my shoulders and made eye contact with me. "Can you even drive?" I nervously laughed as he made his way to the door after collecting my car keys. "I can." I didn't fully believe him but I still followed him outside. I locked my front door and off we went.

The Mentetwin Gazette

"Welcome back, Mr Olsen." A small blondie let the words roll from her tongue, suggestively. She gave me a glare as her eyes scanned over my physique. "Who's this?" She looked up at Danny. "This is my
girlfriend, Y/n. She has elite skill." He put emphasis on the word 'elite' and I flushed as he referred to me as his girlfriend. Blondie seemed taken aback as her emerald eyes, once glistening an inviting green, then turned to a poisonous toxin. He gently tugged my arm along with him to a private office, never failing to break the golden haired woman's putrid gaze.

He shut the door. "What's her deal?" I snarled, peering through the blinds to see what hostile creature we had just passed. "That's June, you'll get over her trust me. She's all bark." He sat down in a chair and I took the comfy loveseat beside his desk. "Now, Y/n. Your article annotations last night were fantastic, I wanna see you put them to use." He spun around to me in his wheelie chair and twirled a bit of my hair around his index finger. "Oh... ok." I pulled my chair closer to his desk and watched as he pulled out a laptop from his bag and placed it in front of me. "Let me just log in and get word up for you." He turned it on. "Ok."

'500 words of pure juice', as he called it. Danny read over it, excited each and every time. God, he must've gone over it 30 times by now. "This is just what we need! This brings so much heat to Mentetwin. You're a prodigy, Y/n." He smirked at me as he praised me. It felt good to be appreciated. I had already informed Brian about trying to get a new job. He understood how the bar wasn't too pleasant for me after what happened... well everything tied to it. He respects my decision to try and aim higher, you can't stay in the same place forever.

"Do you wanna work here? I can totally get you hired." His fiery eyes burned into mine. "Yes! Of course." How could I refuse? This was all I've wanted in years. Danny really did bring me all the thrills a perfectly functioning human being should need, and the same for a sociopath. Tears welled up in my eyes for the first time in a while, I'm sure it wasn't too long since the last time I came close to crying, was it? "Oh sweetheart it's such a delight to work with-"

Our moment was ruined. By that cheap plastic surgery monstrosity: June.

"Jed, you have a meeting at the town hall art convention tomorrow, you need to take images and write an article or two about it." She slurred, bringing a rollup cigarette to her rouge lips. Danny was clearly mad about that, well mad was an understatement. I swear I had caught him smoking once, maybe Jed doesn't. "June. What did I tell you about smoking that dirty tobacco in my office? Go do it elsewhere." He snapped at her. She simply grinned up at him with a sultry pair of poignant red lips, as if teasing him. "I'm scared, Mr Olsen." She ran a manicured finger down his tie. Danny's face quickly switched from partially concealed anger to pure revolt. "You should be, you're headed straight for the door, so get out before I make you walk out the front door." He seethed. She quickly scattered off like a scared pigeon, him closing the door after her leave.

"Incompetent..." Is the only word Danny muttered under his breath that I could make out before he sat himself back down. He looked up at me and his face melted back to a natural expression. "Well, Y/n, lunch break?" He pulled out a tub of pesto pasta and a sandwich I hadn't even noticed him make at home. "Why not, Mr. Olsen."

"Which one would you like, I'm ok with either." I chose the sandwich. It was my favourite. Danny dug into his pasta (which, I may add, smelled beautiful and probably tasted it). I took the first bite from my sandwich and I felt my heart smile. I had been constantly overwhelmed with all this murder and love that I totally forgot to appreciate the small things that made me happy, just like food.

Sorry this is late out but I hope you like it! <3
p.s food is better than lovers, don't tell Danny that!
