"Thanks!" I tipped the delivery man with a smile, holding the door barely ajar so he couldn't see the masked serial killer lounging on my couch. Luckily, the dumb, brown-haired boy with rectangle glasses didn't notice. "Have a n-nice night miss!" His smile was goofy and his cheeks were rosy, supposedly from the cold. "You too, Dwight." I liked him, total manchild though, he always delivered my pizza since I regularly ordered at this time, which I found out happened to be 1am. The awkward boy smiled up at me in my doorway as he hurriedly got back in his car. I carried my pizza inside to Danny after closing the door, happy at the sudden warmth.
"You know him?" He stood up and I handed him the large pizza box, locking the door with my now free hands. "Now, when has that ever worked." I muttered under my breath, amusing myself slightly. "Huh?" When I turned back to Danny, he was setting up the pizza on the table, simply opening it but making a pleasant display out of it. "Yeah, Dwight's an old friend, you want pepsi?" I peer into the fridge. "Hell yeah." His voice showed how ecstatic he was, at least he was occupied with food instead of stabbing me. I took two cool cans of the beverage and sat back down with Danny. He seemed to be getting comfortable. He had taken his hooded jacket off and did the same with his boots. His mask remained on, the strap ruffling his curly mess of chocolate hair. His hair looked surprisingly healthy, shiny but not greasy.
"You're staring, sweetheart? See something you like? Because if so I admire that you can drool over me without ever seeing my face." Danny boasted. "Well you just did that out of nowhere. What did you expect?" We dug into our food. "You're right, not sure." He shrugged.
Danny lifted his mask no more than above his nose and removed his black fingerless gloves. Underneath the stark white mask was an olive face, slightly tan for a guy who stays masked up, maybe it's just his hue. His jaw was soft but definitely there, complimenting his perfect looking complexion, not a blemish in sight. I thought that was weird. "You seem to wear that mask a lot, how come your skin's so nice?" I quirked a brow as I then washed down my first slice with the fizzy drink. "I only rinse my face with water, not much but it tends to be on the clearer side." He hid it well but I knew he was flattered. Danny was well-mannered, which explained why he could slip under the radar and supposedly live a normal life or even possibly a complete other life. He ate flawlessly, not a smidge on his face, his coral shade lips - of medium plumpness - always somehow remaining clean. Danny and I went through three slices each when we decided we were full. It was convenient since there were two left, so we wouldn't have to fight when we eventually got peckish for more.
I shut the lid on the cardboard box and pushed it a little further back on my coffee table. "Ooo, I've been eyeing this up for a while. Lemon cheesecake?" Danny smirked down at the small candle he decided to bring into context since I, too, glanced at it as it sat beside the larger berry one. "Could I light it? I like candles." He requested, like a child asking for chocolate. "Go ahead." I smiled and covered myself in my blanket, it was folded and slung over the chair arm, Danny's work, not mine.
I set focus on the TV, Bob's Burgers was now on. I'm not complaining at all, I love all the shows adult swim has to offer. The citrusy candle was now alight and the burnt matchstick was placed neatly atop the closed matchbox. These things sat above some Alan Watts book I happened to flick through every now and again. "Could I have some blanket?" Danny meekly spoke, gently holding a corner of the fleece. "Come under, sure. Feel welcome. If you're not gonna kill me you might aswell be a housecat." I joked, getting a laugh from him. His mask was replaced in its original position, the voice changer doing its job.
Sorry for the shortness of this chapter, the next one will be way longer I promise! <3
