"These are so good." I swallowed my bite of the tacos Danny and I had made. I was a big fan of the taste. Just right; savoury but not enough to dry my mouth out. The veg in the contents were refreshing in contrast to the warm shell and meat.
Danny finished before me and I was on the last half of my second taco. He was a gentleman and was patiently waiting for me to finish my food to wash my plate. I handed it over to him as I wolfed down the last of my meal. He took it and smiled, turning to the sink. "Those were really good, Y/n. What did you think?" He started to wet the wash sponge. "They were great." I dusted any loose crumbs from the table and tidied up, pushing the chairs under. The time was 1:25pm and I felt a little tired. I plonked down onto the couch and slid off my slippers and my thick cardigan, throwing them onto the arm chair. I tucked myself under the fleece on top of the sofa, feeling the essence of new home.
The tap stopped and I could hear our now clean dishes be placed onto the drying rack. I watched whatever was going on the TV, not entirely paying attention as I was fairly sleepy.
A figure came to sit next to me, I wasn't in focus but it was obviously Danny. He lifted my legs onto his lap and sorted out the blanket, giving a warm grin as I glanced over to see what he was doing. He lifted up his hand to my cheek and leaned in, pressing a brisk, sweet kiss to my forehead. "Want to cuddle?" He stroked my hair and coddled me. "Yes please." I said although he had requested it in the first place. "Budge up a little." I shifted on my side comfortably and I felt him slot himself between the thin space between my back and the couch. He fit perfectly, makes sense though, he was very athletic. I noticed that his left arm was tucked underneath me and was wrapped around my waist, pulling me to him and his right still twirling my hair around his fingers. He kissed me protectively atop my head. I guess that injury went completely now, hm? Or well the pain's gone. I couldn't tell whether he was in that spot or not but it was whatever.
I felt myself sink into the moment. Was I in love with him?
No... I can't be.
I can.
I turned around to face inbetween his collar bones, or where they would be if I could see them. He pulled me into him this way, his chin on top of my head. His heartbeat rung through my ears and my face, I could feel it. It wasn't fast though, it was the opposite. His breathing was calm and so was he. I felt happy to know that we shared serenity. No words for this moment. Just touch. Words even at their purest would taint this heavenly moment so I decided it was a good idea to just live in it. My veins ran warm for the first time in years, even when I did that thing... it never felt as good as this. As good as him.
As much fun as I was having, fangirling and swooning over him, I needed a little bit of rest. I didn't have to work until 6 so it was whatever.6pm
"Hey Brian." I hung up my coat. Tonight wasn't going to be too busy hopefully, it was only a Sunday after all. "Hey, gem." I had missed his classic nicknames for me. "Aaron and you are going to work together for a little tonight, you don't get to see each other much anymore. Y'all got 20 minutes together." I appreciated this. I missed Aaron more than I thought I did, plus with the recent death of his sister, I felt like him and I needed to talk. "Alright." I rolled up my sleeves and exhaled, pushing the bar door open. The music was quiet as I had suspected and there was only like 13 people here tonight. What a relief.
"Y/n."
I was pulled into a big, warm hug. The only warm soul that these hugs could possibly belong to was Aaron. I melted into it quickly and rubbed his back. "Hey, goon." I spoke, marvelling in the fact that he was actually there. "God it's been a while since we've actually interacted properly." We pulled away. "I know."
"Hey, could I have a lager?" Jackson, a common customer requested. I liked the guy, he was polite. Wasn't the angry kind of drunk either, he was a comedian when given the liquid confidence. "Sure." I took the order as I had only just gotten here and Aaron was supposedly working since 2 as usual, he'll probably leave at 9. I took his glass and pushed down on the keg, filling his tall pint glass with the yellow stuff. I wasn't a drinker, much. I do sometimes but only on special occasions, but I do respect that it's just some people's thing. "Here you go." I placed it on his coaster. "Thanks."
The door chimed, the familiar jingle of our little bell above the door. It rang whenever someone entered.
No way. It was Danny. He dressed up and came here? What... why?
His signature smirk lit up the room. He took a seat in front of Aaron. "Oh hey." My eyes flickered between Danny and Aaron. "You two know each other?" Aaron cleaned out a whiskey glass. "Yeah. Old friends." I saw him wink after he made our excuse. It never will get old. "That's sweet." Aaron served the two ladies at the very end of the table. "It is." Danny's smooth voice confirmed. "Now, may I have a rum and coke, milady?" He leant over the table a little bit, diagonally my way. "Of course fine sir, bacardi light?" I turned to the bottle stand. "Yes please, also can I have some ice in it?" "Mhm."
I made him the drink he desired and placed it in front of him. "Thanks pretty lady." He giggled playfully. "You're welcome fine sir."
Thirty minutes later we had been bickering and having a good laugh, I felt comfortable.
"Y/n, darlin' I'm gonna go out back for a smoke." Aaron winked at me, he was in a good mood hm? "Alright, I'll handle it." I dismissed him. When I turned back to Danny, the colours of coral that once roamed his cheeks drained and was replaced by a pallid colour. I gave him a reassuring smile, "you alright, you've had a little much to drink in the last half hour." I joked as he was still on his first glass. He wasn't feeling it. I frowned as he excused himself to the bathroom. Ok?
