I'll spare you another boring car scene lmao
"Jed! It's a pleasure to see you." A woman around my height greeted him as we had just left the car. We were about to enter the crowd before us when she stopped us. "Oh hey, Mandy, it's nice to see you." Danny was genuinely nice with her, maybe I should give her a chance. 'Mandy' turned to me with kind brown eyes and a grin that widened. "I can see you finally used that charm of yours hm? I'm Amanda, nice to meet you." She held a hand out to shake mine, her nails were painted a deep burgundy. I took her hand in mine and reciprocated a smile. "I'm Y/n, it's nice to meet you too." I glanced at Danny as we pulled away from each other, he seemed pleased enough at the interaction. "Mandy and I have been friends ever since we were only seven." He explained, although I understood the bond they had just by looking at the smiles on their faces.
"Well, I guess you took up on that journalism career you always wanted to do." She paused and leant into his ear for a quick second before Danny swiftly nodded. She parted from him and looked at me with a smirk. "Well, Danny and I have very similar careers behind closed doors." Amanda lowered her voice to talk to me. I would've thought she did journalism too if it weren't for that smirk on her face. So she murders people aswell? Cool. Well at least I can kind of trust her in a way. "When did you even start?" I spoke vaguely to Danny as I had never actually inquired. "College. After that Mandy and I lost contact but yeah, in college." I just nodded. "It's so great for you to have an open mind." Amanda gave me such sweet looks, as if I was a diamond. She treated me like a rarity. "She does the same as we do, only a novice though." Danny pulled me to him by my waist with one strong arm. I looked up at him and he looked extremely prideful. Him holding me this way made me tingle a little. "That's sweet, well I'll be off, I'm gonna go down to Kramer's workshop, I've been crafting up some things." Danny understood but I chose not to pry, after all she probably made torture devices or something...
"Goodbye! It was a pleasure to meet you both." Amanda went off with her non-suspicious rucksack and took a left, disappearing from sight. To be frank, she looked like she was fresh out of college, which was good for her blending in with society.
Now for the assignment.
We entered the hall and were greeted with people talking and bright colours. Murals and mosaics covered the walls and floors, it was beautiful. We could barely hear the soft jazz music in the background over all the people talking but it was there.
I got into a good spot where the least people were crowded up. A beautiful stained glass sculpture, The Virgin Mary. In my photos, I wanted the essence of it being a hotspot but at the same time I wanted the art to actually be visible, so I chose it as a kickstart. I picked up the camera around my neck and put my eye to the viewfinder and let the lens adjust so I could see properly. I rotated the lens and zoomed into a perfect image. I let it focus and I held down the button. The camera made sure it was focused and...
Click Click.
I kept the flash on because it made the glass look nice. I snapped another just incase it wasn't too good and moved onto the next, Danny did the opposite side so we wouldn't do like four on one piece of work. We waited for people to move on. Until all was done.
I flicked through the images, not remembering just how many I had taken. They looked amazing! I smiled with pride until I clicked back a little too far. It was a photo I was unfamiliar with.
A photo of two people getting out of a car that just happened to be my exact model, colour and had the same license plate as mine... it was my car. I felt the colours drain from my face as I looked closer, it was me and Danny arriving at work the morning before. What the hell? I clicked back again and it was us eating lunch on the first day. Again and again until... it was just Danny. I was in the way of an obsession with him, I gathered. This was back when I worked at the bar still... this camera was June's, if I heard things right. June had been stalking Danny! Before I even met him, too. Could she be the one sending those messages? But it doesn't make sense, if she had been stalking him, she'd know that he was a murderer too. Maybe she's in love with him and that's why she doesn't care. She's lovesick, I mean she tries to be all touchy-feely with him but he doesn't want it, that's why she's mad at me. What if she's gonna try and kill me to have him all to herself? I need to stop her.
She could ruin everything.
"Are you ok?" A hand on my shoulder made me jump and let go of the camera, if it wasn't for the strap around my neck it'd be shattered. "Jesus, Y/n!" Danny jumped at my sudden flinch. "I'm sorry, you startled me." I nervously laughed. "Right, so you've got the photos?" He rubbed my bicep comfortingly. "Yeah." "Good, this place is overcrowded, let's go." He swiftly escorted us out of the hall and to my vehicle.
The Gazette
I walked back in, June's eyes shooting to the camera around my neck. Shit. I just smiled, playing it off as if I hadn't seen her creepy photos of Danny.
We entered his office and I immediately closed the blinds. Danny seemed to notice the distraught look on my face, so he pulled me into a hug. "It's ok, I don't like crowds either." I hugged him back, thanking him mentally for creating me an excuse for my behaviour. He was letting Danny out, in a way, I know Jed doesn't mind the attention. It made me happy knowing that he felt this comfortable around me.
What was I supposed to do in that moment in time? Do I tell him? Not here. Well, I have lunch and then a little bit of article writing so I'll think about it when I get home although I was hesitant. "Come on, let's have some food." He smiled down at me, pecking my forehead and overall brightening the mood.
