Chapter 16 - Going To Class Late = New Talkative Friend
"So, how was art?" Ava asked when we sat down at the table. I shrugged.
"It was okay."
"Hey, isn't Nathan in that class?" Ava suddenly asked, and Hannah swore, choking on her food. I patted her on her back roughly, and she slapped my hand away.
"You didn't talk to him, right?" She asked, and I frowned.
"Yeah. Is that a problem?" I asked. Hannah and Ava exchanged looks.
"I think it's time you know about the school, Unique." Ava declared.
"But I alrea-"
"Hush." Hannah said, and I turned to look at her.
She did not just hush me.
"There's only 2 people you shouldn't mess with." Hannah said. I looked at her and Ava.
"Who?" I asked, grinning. They both looked at me with worried faces.
"Unique, we're serious. There's Jessica Adams, she practically rules the school," Ava said.
"And there's Nathan Mont, the school's 'mysterious bad boy'. He's always late for classes, no-one except the teachers know who his parents are, and if he talks to someone he's probably threatening them. Just, don't cause trouble." Hannah said.
"No promises," I replied. They both sighed.
"Anyway, why would I be scared of Jessica? She's just another bimbo who thinks she's all that." I stated, but Hannah and Ava weren't listening. They were staring with wide eyes at something behind me.
"So I see you have been talking about me, Williams." A very familiar voice spat, making me turn around to meet her icy glare.
"Is that a problem, Adams?" I replied, getting ready to hand over my crutches and fight if I had to.
"Yes," She started, stepping forward. "Because I really hate it when people talk about me without me knowing, especially when they call me names." She said.
I didn't flinch.
"What makes you think I would care?" I retorted, and she glared harder.
"Who do you think you are?" She hissed, invading my personal space bubble.
"I have a question for you, Adams."
"What?"
"Do you know what personal space is?" I asked, and she looked at me with a confused expression.
"Yeah. Why?"
"I hate to ruin you moment, but you're kinda invading mine." I said, smiled sweetly and shoved her away.
The crowd that had formed started cheering, and Ava started playing 'Goin Down For Real' By Flo Rida ft. Sage The Gemini.
I burst out laughing, but stopped when Jessica leaned forward and whispered in my ear:
"You may think you're in control of everything now, but there will be a point when you are weak, hurt and broken, but no-one will be there for you. You will regret ever coming to this school and meeting me. That's not a threat or warning Unique, it's a promise." Then walked away with a triumphant look on her face.
I stood there, frozen. Was what that supposed to mean?
"Hey, are you okay? What did that brat say?" Hannah asked, coming up to me with Ava. I waved them off.
"Nothing, she's just trying to scare me." I said, and they frowned.
"Unique, what did she say?" Ava repeated, and I sighed.
