2. Darkness

~THIRD PERSON P.O.V

Nine hours until dawn...

Chris breathed out tiredly as he, Max, Sam, and Charlie stopped walking. "Man, I feel like this mountain gets bigger every time I climb it," Chris complained as Max groaned. "Tell that to me, and this is my first time," Max commented.

"Oh yeah? Feels the same to me," 

They looked over and saw Josh and Riley standing in front of them.

Riley chuckled. "Hey, Max. Sam, Charlie, and Chris," he greeted with a smile.

"Oh, come on, you grew up here, Josh. It probably feels like it's shrinking," Chris told him, causing him to chuckle. "I guess that's true," Josh told him.

"Hey, Josh, Riley," Charlie greeted with a wave and they waved back. "When are you gonna install some cell towers up here? I'm getting withdrawals already," Chris complained as he held up his phone.

"You gotta spare million lying around and I'll fix you right up," Josh told him. "Funny you should say that... Ah, I think I left it in my other jacket," Chris joked. "I would grab mine, but I think it fell out of my pocket," Riley joked as they walked up to the front of the cabin.

"Oops," Josh said as they walked over to Ashley, Matt, Joey, and Seán. "Hey, guys," Josh greeted them. "Hey, Joey, Seán," Max greeted with finger guns. Joey chuckled and did them back. "Sup," Seán greeted her with a wave. "Did you guys get here okay?" Josh asked them. "Got to scare a few people. I call that fucking success," Seán said, causing Joey to elbow him.

"I got here fine, and meet Ashley on the way up," Joey replied, which made Chris get a little bit of jealousy in his stomach. "Yeah... Well... More or less. But it's so good to see you!" Ashley told them. Riley noticed that Matt was looking down to the ground, an angry expression on his face.

"'Sup with him?" Riley asked the group, but they didn't respond, and neither did Matt. Josh, Riley, and Chris walked up to the front door as two people were watching them from the trees. Charlie felt something was watching them. She looked over in the direction where the two people were but they were gone. Max and Sam noticed her looking. "You okay, Charlie?" Sam asked her.

Charlie nodded slowly. "I just... I felt like something, or someone, was watching us," Charlie told them, causing Max to roll her eyes. "Oh, grow up! There's no one here on this mountain, other than Jess, this Mike person, also this Em person, and us. You're just imagining it," Max told her before she walked over to Joey and Seán to talk to them.

Charlie growled before sighing. "You really need to get along with her. Maybe this weekend could be your chance," Sam encouraged her. Charlie turned to look at her with a slight smile. "Maybe your right, but... We've always been like this, and I don't think that's ever gonna change," Charlie told her sadly before Sam set a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.

Josh, Riley, and Chris stood in front of the door. "Yo, yo, yo! Are we gonna get things moving here or what?" Chris asked them. "Yeah, dude!" Riley told him with a smile. "We're gonna fire this place up!" Josh told him.
