5. Dread

~THIRD PERSON P.O.V

Six hours until dawn...

"Are you triple sure you won't need my jacket? I'm fine with not wearing it for a little while," Riley said as he and Mike approached a stone fence that lead into the Sanatorium. "Nope. I'll be fine," Mike said as they two looked over the fence. Riley shrugged. "Alright. But if you freeze to death, I told you so," Riley said as they looked around for the figures.

They spotted them, causing them to duck down. "Jesus. That's not good," Riley muttered. Mike nodded as he held the lantern up. "Agreed. That's really not good. Really not good," Mike added. The two figures walked out the front with two wolves with them, one white-furred and one black-furred. 

Riley and Mike ducked back down. "Dammit," Mike muttered before they stood back up again. The two figures and the two wolves walked inside. "Alright. Let's get a closer look," Riley commented as he stood up. Mike nodded in agreement.

Mike set the lantern on the wall before the two climbed up and stood on top of the wall. Mike grabbed the lantern before the two jumped down, landing on the snow. They walked towards the building as they heard the wolves howling.

"I don't trust this at all," Riley commented as they got to a fountain. Mike looked to the right and spotted another totem. "Hey. A totem," Mike said before he walked over to it. "You know, when you picked the totem up in that building. You seemed to know what exactly the object is... How and why?" Riley questioned. 

"Well, seeing Ashley getting knocked out cold along with Jess badly wounded might say a thing or two," Mike told him, causing Riley's eyes to widen. "Jesus. How about I look at it?" Riley told him. Mike motioned him to grab it. 

Riley kneeled down next to him and he did. He saw Matt and Joey stand in front of a door that was banging. "Weird," Riley said as he set it down and stood up. "What did you see?" Mike asked him as they walked back over to the fountain. "I saw Matt and Joey standing in front of a door. The door was banging... Like... Someone... Or something wanted to be let out," Riley explained to him.

"Jesus..." Mike muttered before they walked up the steps to the front door. Mike spotted something on the wall and looked at it. 

It read:

CONDEMNED

IT IS DEEMED UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO USE OR OCCUPY THIS STRUCTURE FORTHWITH

DATE: JUN 12 1954

"Awesome... Why wouldn't we end up in the creepiest place on planet earth?" Mike questioned as Riley read the notice on the wall. "This says 1954... What on earth is a building like this doing here in 1954? What were people doing...?" Riley muttered.

Mike walked towards the door but Riley stopped him. "I don't think the front door would be the best idea when approaching killers," Riley told him. "Right. We gotta find another way in," Mike commented before they walked down the stairs to their left.

Riley noticed a large piece of metal, popped up against the wall, looking like it was covering something. He moved it, discovering a way into the building. "I think I found our way in," Riley called before he jumped down.

"Riley!" Mike whispered/shouted as he made his way over to the hole. "I'm good. It's a slight drop done, you'll be fine," Riley told him as he took a few steps back. "Dammit. Alright," Mike said before he jumped down.

Mike almost fell over when he landed but Riley steadied him. "You okay?" Riley asked. Mike nodded slowly. "Never been better," Mike said before Riley started walking to the left.

Mike looked at him confused. "Where are you going? I'm sure the exit is this way," Mike motioned to the right. "I have a feeling that there's a totem back... And... I was right!" Riley cheered before he walked over to it.
