Within The Ash

Chapter 10

Heaven's POV

We met up with hundreds of other vampires at the palace and Athan held me close to his side as Andre stood on the other side of me. I felt as if I was surrounded as Athan lightly held my leash In his hand.

We made our way through the city and the looks we got were definitely that of pure fear as their boots tapped in unison against the pavement.

Murmurs of humans could be heard in the distance as we cut through the crowds of humans like I.

Athan's father stopped and looked around at the people with a smile of pleasure and spoke with a voice of power.

"Listen up mortals, we come In peace, but in exchange for peace, we require your patience, as you all understand by now, we come to collect the slaves. We will be testing blood today and we will be making examples of those who have wronged us"

He glanced at Athan who calmly walked me to the front of the vampires with Andre at the other side of me who held my hand for protection.

"We require female and male slaves for blood, Heaven here, is our first from where we come from" he said as Athan gently stroked my hair with his long fingers in attempt to comfort me.

The humans were dead silent at first but when a few tried to revolt they were stopped dead in their tracks. A woman decided to run at Athan in an attempt to attack but Athan stopped her with one hand and snapped her neck.

I gasped as her limp body fell to his feet. He didn't bother to look at her body because I could tell he didn't even want to hurt her let alone kill her like he did.

Athan's father on the other hand, glared down at her body and than back at the humans.

"I have an understanding that there is a man who has greatly hurt this young girl right here" he said as he brought me in front of him.

"Her master here has ordered not the slaying or even the harm of this particular man, however he shall be brought to his presence at once to be understood as a filthy rapist, you will all be told what he has done to her and why"

He turned to me and knelt down to my size and whispered in my ear to tell him the name of my rapist and to point him out through the crowd.

I pointed my finger at Tony who stood among-st the men towards the crowd of humans that stood before us in fear.

His eyes went wide as he tried to run but Athan ran at quick speed and dragged him to the front where every human could see him.

He yelled with such power much like his fathers and anger could be seen in his thunderous gray eyes. So much fear that I swore a storm was brewing to rage right in his eyes alone.

"This man right here, Tony, owner of our town's library, has beat, starved and viciously raped this poor girl from the time she was 9 years old to the time she was 17, he is not only a rapist but he is a women beater, manipulator, and pedophile, I think he should be the one who is feared not us" he threw Tony to the ground and kicked his body to the humans who stood before us. "Do what you want to him" said Athan in bitterness.

The humans all gathered around Tony and I watched as they beat and spit on him in my name. After they were done he was curled in a ball on the ground covered in blood.

"Let him be an example as well, this will happen to you if you cross us, I am a man of mercy, however my father is not. Don't give me a reason to change my morals or I can be just as vicious as my father" he said showing his teeth at the humans, proving that he meant what he said.

The humans were scared into submission and stared with wide eyes.

Athan's father stepped forward again speaking once more.

"You will line up your women first, we are taking blood slaves right now" he said with a chuckle. I could tell Athan didn't like this part because I saw his jaw clinch as various human women all lined up in fear.

Their blood was tested and luckily none had bad blood.

I watched as they cried tears of fear as different vampires all dragged them within our own.

At my horror, even Andre went up to a small girl and grabbed her hand in his. Her face was full of fear but she went with him because I heard him threaten her.

"Don't fight me darling, you will regret it" she stood at his side, next to me. And her entire body shook with fear as tears ran down her face. Her family watched in horror as the rest of the vampires gathered their human women.

I turned to her and whispered words that I hoped would ease her fear.

"Everything is going to be okay" I said with gentleness as Athan looked down at me expressionless than at Andre with anger.

They seemed to be speaking to each other without words again.

Andre smirked while Athan still looked angry.
