Athan's POV

We walked out of the small cabin and Drake held his head high as if he could see the world around him despite his eyes being the way they were. I glanced over at the man who couldn't see me and he glanced back at me.

"You know, I can still tell if people are staring, I can feel your eyes and they are glued to me, please stop" He said. And it made me instantly look away out of respect.

"I was just wondering what its like to be blind" I asked as i stared at the trees around me.

"You aren't missing out on anything, I can see light, that's it" He said with no expression. And this sparked my next question.

"How do you get around if you're blind, if you don't mind me asking"

He glanced over at me as if he could see me and answered quickly.

"I don't wear shoes at the bottoms of my feet so that I can feel the vibrations of earth. I can feel if somebody is heading our way and I can sense the birds in the air. I can feel the wind upon my skin and I can tell the difference between ashes and dirt. The only difference between your eyes and my eyes is that my vision doesn't allow me to see your face, But i can see your soul" He explained as we walked through the forest around us.

He than stopped in mid walk and sat on the ground.

He looked to the sky when a huge bird flew from the tree tops and landed right on his arm.

"Ah a message from Fae?" He said as he ran his hand across the page.

"Fae is blind as well and uses special ink that hardens and Raises on the page within 5 minutes of being sent out, I'm able to read her words through the feel of the ink" He explained as I watched his lips moving in silence as he scanned the page with his hands.

"What is your name again?" He asked as he came to a pause in his reading.

"My name is Caleb, Is the note about I" I said already knowing by his thoughts what exactly the note was about.

"You have a letter from friends by the names of Zero and Lucifer, they need your help and are in the forests of darkness" He said as he folded up the letter and placed it in his pocket.

I really didn't want to go into the dark part of the forest for heaven's sake. I would be able to see perfectly fine because my eyes are equipped with the ability to see through even the most advanced darkness. But her eyes would see exactly that, Darkness and only darkness.

I nodded my head and glanced down at Heaven who seemed to be off in her own world.

"If i take you into the darkness, would you trust me" I asked as she looked up at me with confusion.

"I would be afraid, but i trust you Caleb" She said as she asked the question that just entered her mind. I already knew the question and answered before she asked.

"You will see Zero, Lucifer and Lauren again" I said with a smile, knowing that shes been longing for human interaction.
