Within The Ash

Chapter 66

Zero's POV

We all packed our things and finally set out into the next forest ahead.

Lucifer looked around once we entered the forest and pointed to an area of the forest.

"We have to climb the trees to see where we are at" He said as he pulled out the jar of sap that he had collected earlier in our trip.

He rubbed it on his hands than on Rose's and Faith's hands before handing the jar to me where I rubbed it on my hands and than on Lauren's and Edan's before handing the rest to Violet for her to rub on her own.

Violet handed the jar back to Lucifer.

"This is fucking gross" Said Violet with an attitude.

"Suck it up princess" I said before starting to climb the first tree. I was already good at climbing but i have to admit, the sticky sap made it 20 times easier.

Lauren sat on a lower branch and over looked the ground where Lucifer and Jesus started climbing up other trees in order to get their views as well.

"Misty moon is straight ahead" yelled Lucifer from another tree as Lauren climbed higher in our tree right above me. I preferred her to be In front of me so that I could see and help her while also teaching her how to survive with us.

She stared off into the other trees to spot Lucifer and Jesus while the other girls stayed on the ground to aid us if we fall or to watch for potential threat. It was easier for the other girls to stay at the bottom because they had higher skill levels than Lauren.

I was content at the fact that Lauren never seemed to fall behind or have discomfort during all this. Accept for when it came to night she was obviously afraid of the dark, and I'm going to make sure that when we enter the dark zone of these Forests, it be her lesson and not her pain.

I glanced over at her and winked before catching a glimpse of her smile before zoning off into the trees to spot Jesus who very oddly, casually stood upon one of the higher branches as if he were on the ground and not 50 feet in the air.

God damn why do all these forest men do crazy shit just to show off. I laughed to myself as Lucifer and Jesus started silently mocking each other.

Lucifer flexed his muscles on his right arm and winked to Jesus from one of the trees.

With that Jesus flexed both of his arms while jokingly smiling with a cocky grin. It caught Jesus off guard when Lucifer pretended to slip off the tree branch and fall out of sight.

I knew he was pretending but Lucifer is kind of a dark prank player just to get under somebody's skin.

It was harmless and always made Lauren laugh so part of me believes he does it to lighten her mood when he knows shes watching. And when he wanted to play one on me it was even darker but it was down right cruel when he played a dark prank on an enemy. That's when we would all suspect that he actually is Satan.

Lauren Giggled from the branch over me as Jesus started to panic and yell out for Lucifer. Just as he did Lucifer springs back up into the trees and lands on his feet with his hands crossed in front of his chest.

He smiled and took a bow while Jesus stood in the next tree with a look of confusion.

We made our way back to the ground with the other girls and continued our walk.

And as we walked it wasn't a sudden darkness that took over like we had pictured. It was an all around misty fade to complete blackness.

The shift that had finally went black was sudden but it began with fog. There had to of been a black cloud that covered because thunder and lightning that crawled across the sky that was void of all stars. Not even the moon was seen in the sky we looked up at.
