Within The Ash

Chapter 18

Heaven's POV

The same girl who had interrupted Athan had sat right next to me and stared at me for what seemed to be minutes. I only eyed her from the corner of my eyes before slowly turning to fake a friendly smile.

She sat back in her seat and put on red lip stick just like mine.

"Hun, you're not as pretty as you think" I was taken back at that but didn't wanna show my fear of her.

She glances back at me with an attitude and stops applying her lipstick in mid apply.

"Here" she wiped my lipstick off with her hand roughly as if she was trying to hurt me and I could feel that it was smeared all over my face.

She snickered and smiled an evil grin "there much better"

Athan walked in and sat next to me and just stared with a concerned look.

"What happened?" He asked as his eyes glanced from me to Sarah before totally focusing on me after she just shrugged her shoulders. He covered his hand with his sleeve and gently wiped it off my face with a smile before glaring at Sarah. He pulled a bright red lipstick from his pocket that was much prettier than Sarah's and carefully applied it perfectly to my lips.

He smiled a reassuring smile and than glanced back at Sarah.

"See much better, show Sarah how darling you look" I turned to Sarah and timidly smiled as she rolled her eyes. She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back in her chair.

"And where did YOU get lipstick, last time I checked, men don't wear makeup" she said in a snotty voice.

"That's where you're wrong sweet heart, I'm a expert actor, when I'm on stage, I get to practice with many types of makeup as i please"

Sarah scoffed and rolled her eyes again sparking another reaction from Athan.

He smiled and placed his chair in front of her where he sat backwards on it facing her. "You're not very nice to my friend here, you have been all over me, if you wanna have any chances of even being my friend which I doubt will ever happen, I suggest you be a good girl" he said with a slight grin before turning to face me again.

"And as for you, don't worry about what people think about you, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how you feel about yourself" he said as he gently combed my hair with his long fingers.

He got up and made his way to the other side with the men and calmly sat down as the teacher walked in the room and began the lesson.

I spoke to him from inside my mind because I knew he was always listening and watched his face expressions as I spoke.

"Did you have a plan on where to live here among the humans" all he did was gently nod his head at my question.

He couldn't answer my questions but he could give me definite answers or hints at what he was saying through face expressions. The teacher didn't pay much attention to random movements and if he did than I'm sure Athan would just lie and say it was some kind of tick.

"Do you really like me the way you said you do?" He smiled a wide smile before gently nodding his head. He stared at me from across the class in the most loving way and winked his eye at me.

We spoke the entire class within my mind but he answered with simple expressions.

"Do you know where Lauren is?" With that question he lifted his head off the desk and looked around anxiously before finally relaxing and gently nodding his head.

"Meet me by the bathrooms after this class ends"

His face changed to a look of confusion mixed with worry before he gave just a simple one nod with his head. He was visibly worried and anxious at something and when class ended he left in a hurry.

I followed where he was going but he went straight into the men's bathroom. I couldn't follow but I listened the best that I could.

I could hear Lauren among the voices in the bathroom and I wondered why she was in the men's bathroom with them.
