"Alright we have almost 72 square miles to search!" Abbott barks, "Let's go! Local PD and other FBI are on scene as well. We've got helicopters up above. Keep your radios on!"

"Ah, Abbott," I quickly step after him and reach out to grab his arm.

"Yeah Jane?"

"Red John is here. His people are here. It's dark and they will be armed. We need to be careful, and I need a vest and a gun."

"Vest. No gun."

"Listen to me." I command, stepping close enough to him that I can forcibly jab his shoulder with my finger, "The woman that I love is out here somewhere, and so is her niece. There is no doubt in my mind that there are others out here that will not think twice before shooting them or any of us. You will give me a gun, Dennis Abbott, or so help me-"

"What are you going to do about it Jane?" He growls, drawing his gun and turning towards the forest.

"Abbott!" My voice is breaking and I run up behind him. He turns to look at me and I pull back, quickly striking him in the face.

He falls to the ground silently and I let out a gasp, picking up his gun and storming towards the forest.

I'm going to find them if it damn near kills me.

I'm holding Abbott's gun in my hand as I march towards the forest. I can hear the blood pounding in my head and my heart beating in my chest. He is out here. They are out here. God knows what he did to them, if they're still alive. I shudder at the thought and take a deep breath, pushing back a tree branch and disappearing into the forest.

I'm almost thirty yards into the forest when I meet up with Cho and Wylie, the latter looking almost as frightened with a gun as I do.

"Nice gun." Cho nods as we continue forward.

"Oh. Thanks." Everyone saw what happened, that was just his way of acknowledging it.

"You know, we can't do anything until we find them." Wylie stutters, nearly tripping on a tree branch, "The K9 unit's here and the chopper has thermal. If anything we're just impeding."

"Wylie listen to me," I snap, spinning around and touching his chin with the barrel of my gun, "and you listen carefully. I am going to find them even if it kills me. They are everything I have. Now you can either choose to come along or bait the wolves."

"Ah, uh, there's wolves?" He mumbles and shakes his head quickly. I turn around and continue to press forward when I notice a small smile from Cho. Of course, now he would smile.

"This is Zulu team," the radio echoes, "we have a visual on three armed males in the southern end. Over-"

"This is Agent Cho, bravo team, FBI. Northern end. Keep your weapons drawn and do not hesitate to fire. We want a safe extraction. Over-"

"Ten-four." Zulu replies and the radio goes silent.

"Cho," I turn around and squint at him in the darkness, "We have to get down there. If Red John's people are down there so are Annie and Lisbon."

"But what if they're here Jane?" Cho raises his voice, shocking me a little, "It's almost thirty degrees. We don't know if they've eaten or how heavy their clothes are. They could be injured Jane. We need to stay here and keep searching."

"Zulu team over-" The radio breaks the silence filling the night air.

"This is Jane. Bravo team, FBI." I run up and take the radio from Cho, "Over-"

"We are approaching the sus-" the radio crackles silent.

"Zulu what's happening? Over-" Nothing.

"Give me that!" Cho growls and rips the radio from my hand, "Zulu! What's your ten-twenty? Zulu over-"

Once again, the silence falls over the forest, before four loud shots ring out.

"Get down!" Cho yells, and the three of us are instantly laying on the cold forest floor, sticks and pickers stabbing into me, "Zulu!" He tries the radio again.

"Bravo team this is Fischer, echo team. East corner." The radio buzzes back to life.

"Fischer are you safe?"

"Yeah Cho. are you guys?"

"Yes." I see him nod and I stand up with a crack of my knees when I hear the sound of someone running.

"Stop! FBI!" I yell and raise my gun into the darkness, "Stop!"

The footsteps keep approaching as Cho and Wylie stand, each drawing their weapons and blading behind trees.

"Stop, FBI!" Now Cho is yelling, the footsteps becoming louder and louder as the figure finally appears.

"FBI!" Wylie screams at the top of his lungs, pulling out his flashlight and flipping it on, "Hands in the air!"

"Okay, okay!" A woman responds and at the sound of her voice everything starts to fade to black.

"Cho I'm going to go meet up with Fischer, okay?" I turn and walk deeper into the forest, rubbing my temples.

"Jane! You can't!"

"Cho. Don't." I argue, ignoring him as I walk off, the images of the blonde woman in the forest burning into my mind.

The day Angela and I were married. The day Charlotte was born. Her first day of school. The day I found them dead in our home, the red faces grinning back at me. It was Angela, standing in the woods, and she was alive. All of this time, and she was alive.
