"Dammit!" I yell once I'm safely in the stairwell, "God dammit Jane!" I start to cry a little, brushing the tears away.

My hand stung. I slapped him really hard. But he deserved it. What the hell was wrong with me, still defending him when he screwed up again? I must be losing my mind. I walked slowly up the steps, taking deep breaths as I went. I had to talk to Abbott and had to look professional around both him and Annie.

"Hey Boss," I call when I re-enter the bullpen, Annie immediatley at my side, "can I talk to you?"

"Agent Lisbon." He sighs, rubbing his head, "Yeah. Sure. My office."

Annie and I follow him in and sit down, I feel blood start to trickle down my lip from biting it so hard. This was gonna be fun.

"I have some news."

"Sir," I interrupted, "I got another call last night. It was Him but I don't know what it was about. Jane answered it."

"I have good news and bad news." He replied, ignoring my statement.

"Bad news first." Annie said quietly.

"It appears James was taken."

"What?!" Annie and I both gasp in unison, "Do you have a lead? An address? Anything?"

"I can't share that with you Teresa, you know that."

"What's the good news then?" I inquire, my voice clipped.

"We found Tommy." Annie and I gasp again, only this time for joy, "but... he doesn't remember either of you and he thinks Jane took him."

"What?" It was a simple concept but I couldn't wrap my mind around it, "Why?"

"I don't know Teresa." He rubbed his head again, "My best guess is that Red John is trying to hurt Jane by hurting you. I am placing the two of you, Jane, and Tommy into witness protection. I have an address for a safe house and new ID's. No one is to know you are staying there. No one."

"Can I see Dad?" Annie nearly whispers.

"I'm sorry, but not yet. Not until he is in stable condition and his memory is evaluated. We can't risk over stimulating him." It made sense but it didn't mean I liked it.

"Here are your ID's. It's nice to meet you, Cara DiGuiseppi." He hands me a new driver's license, "Sarah DiGuiseppi," he hands a passport to Annie, "and a new license for your Fiancé, Frank DiGuiseppi." He hands me Jane's new license. "Your brother, Austin O'Rourke is at a black site. Do not try to find him. Take care of yourself, good luck."

"Thank you Sir." I muster up a smile as we leave the building.

As we drive towards the safe house I dial Jane's number.

"Hey. It's me. Don't give me any of that 'I'm ignoring you to protect you' crap."

"..."

"James was taken, but you already knew that. Tommy was found, but you know that too. What you don't know is that we're all being placed in witness protection. Where are you?"

"You're not coming to get me Teresa."

"It's Cara now. Where are you?"

"At a bar on 5th and Broad." He sighed, "I'll see you in a little bit Tere.. Cara. bye."

~*~*~

We pulled up to the bar and a disheveled Jane... Err Frank opened the car door.

"Here." I threw him his ID as he buckled his seatbelt.

"I don't want to be Frank." He whined as we cruised down the highway, the smell of bourbon filling the car, "And what kind of a crap name is DiGuiseppi?"

"It's our name now. I'm your fiancé Cara and this is our daughter, Sarah." I gestured to Annie.

"Teresa I'm sorry for this morning. I wasn't trying to hurt you. I'm an asshole and I'm sorry. It seems the only thing I'm good at is hurting you. I want you to accept my forgiveness but I'd understand if you don't. I don't deserve your charity."

"Cara." I corrected again, "And it's fine Jane. I was furious and I'm still mad but I'll get over it. I just need time."

"Frank!" Annie piped up from the back seat.

"Thank you Cara, it means a lot."

"It's not a problem." I smile.

"That's because she loooooves you!"

"Annie hush!"

"Sarah!" Patrick interjects with a chuckle.

~*~*~

For the first time in the hell of the past few weeks I smiled and let out a light laugh.

Once again I got the feeling that Red John had managed to create something beautiful.
