The Lost Riders | Heather X Original Female Character (Complete)

Save him

A/N: a little short but angsty chapter. Hope you enjoy. (I did not make the video, found it on YT).

Slight trigger warning for blood and not so very nice comment about Heather.

Frida held on to Shadow's saddle as he flew as fast as he could.

Her father was in front of her, riding the poor female to her limit. Frida felt unimaginable guilt. Had she not convinced the female to come with her, this would never have happened. Had she just taken out Grimmel in the beginning, then none of this would have happened.

She shook her head and concentrated on the task at hand: get her father off the female and kill him.

He was flying into open waters, as far away from land as possible. Frida began to understand why. The further away from land, the easier it would be to get rid of her, and no one would find her.

Shadow fired a blast towards Grimmel, missing him, but almost catching the female.

"Careful bud, we don't want to hurt her," Frida said as she carefully stroked his side.

"Then what do we do?" Shadow asked fear and anger etched in his voice.

Frida's brain got into high gear to try and figure out a plan.

They were currently miles away from land, in the middle of the ocean, in the early morning, trying to shoot down her father and save the female.

"Turn invisible," she told Shadow with a dragon-like growl.

"What is your plan?" He asked.

"We turn invisible and wait for him to think that he lost us. I will kick him off her and get out the drugs," Frida said, still speaking in the dragon growl.

Shadow grunted in response and fired a blast which he then rolled into. Frida checked if it had worked and, as always, it had. They were both completely see-through.

Shadow flew a little faster and came up behind Grimmel. They were now in a place with numerous big, tall sharp rocks that were sticking out of the water. A ship graveyard some could say, but there were no ship remains so either the captains were smart, or there was an incredibly strong current.

Grimmel slowed down and looked around.

"I know you are here. You can't hide," he said.

Frida narrowed her eyes as Shadow circled him, waiting for the right moment to fly over to them and attack.

"You know that not all of us will survive today. Either both you and me, or the dragons," Grimmel said.

"The only one that will die today is you!" Frida shouted in her human voice. "Now!" She growled to Shadow.

He immediately dived for Grimmel. Grimmel's eyes widened as he saw jump off Shadow and kicked him off the female.

For a split second, she thought that her plan had worked. But it was shattered once she felt her father hold onto her metal leg for dear life as she held onto the female's neck.

Frida reached for the countless claps and straps that held her led in place and was about to release her leg when she heard a growl. She looked up to find Shadow flying towards them, ready to melt Grimmel off her.

Frida saw her father pull out the crossbow from his back and aimed it at Shadow. He pulled the trigger and Frida's heart dropped.

"NO!"

It hit.

Shadow fought it as long as he could but ultimately succumbed to the venom. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and he dropped to the ground.

Frida felt the tears stream down her face behind her mask.

"You can only save one. Do you save yourself, or the mindless animal you call your equal?" Grimmel sneered.

Frida was in shock. Her brain and heart didn't want to believe what was happening. Was she really losing her best friend? Was this the end? Did she have to choose?

The answer to everything came in the form of one word.

Yes.

She released the female from the venom. She was slightly disoriented and struggled to get her mind back, but when she did, she stared deeply into Frida's eyes.

Human and dragon communicated without a single word. They both knew what was going to happen.

"Save him."

And with that, Frida pushed herself away from the female.

The dragon watched her with a sad look but flew over to the falling dragon. Frida watched with relief as she carried him up and away from danger. They would be safe.

A fist connected with her jaw and she felt her mask break and blood oose out of the wound.

"You foolish child. You just killed us both for two mindless animals!" Grimmel shouted as they plummeted to the ground.

"They have a better mind than you!" Frida shouted back.

Grimmel's face twisted in anger. His face was red and his eyes were narrowed as he looked at her with nothing but hatred.

An all too familiar pain struck her in the neck and all hope of trying to come back to the ones she loved was gone.

"Neither of us are surviving this dear daughter. And you will never be able to see that filth you call your lover."

Even though Frida was losing consciousness from the venom, those last words ignited a fire deep within her.

She took Grimmel by the collar of his shirt and whispered in his ear: "You will never hurt anyone ever again." With that, she threw him against one of the rocks. A sickening crack following closely after.

Frida hit the water only a few seconds after, the cold water engulfing her. The venom was taking a toll on her body and she could no longer move.

She felt strangely calm. The thought of dying wasn't scary, but the thought of leaving Heather was terrifying.

She looked at the sun shining through the water. Her thoughts filled with the woman she loved and the dragon she almost considered a brother.

Then, everything turned black. The last thing she felt was her mask slipping off her face and floating away.

A/N: I kind of want to post the next chapter of this super late tomorrow, just so you guys can panic and think about what is going to happen.
