"Anyone else think we might be doing more harm than good?" Lydia spoke up from beside me.

We had all gathered at the trail leading into the woods. We had one mission: find malia. I was the one who had to shoot her. Of course they'd give me that job. Stiles, Lydia and I were by Stiles' jeep. Scott was in front of Stiles, and Isaac was across from Scott.

"We're trying to keep a father from killing his own daughter." Scott reassured.

"Actually, we're trying to keep a guy from killing a coyote who's actually his daughter who we don't know how to change from a coyote back to his daughter." All of us sighed and bowed our head in disappointment at Isaac. We knew what was coming next.

Stiles pulled his face into a tight smile. "And again with the not helping."

Scott shook his head and looked directly at us. "Did you bring it?"

I held the vile up. "Got it."

"Good. Keep that with you. Only shoot if you're sure the shot is clear, okay? Now, to make this easier, we're going to break up into groups. Isaac, you're with me. Stiles and Lydia, you two go together."

"But Allison-" stiles started, but Scott cut him off.

"She'll be fine. She needs to be alone so she can focus on making the shot. You'll see her after we help Malia."

I saw Stiles face fall in disappointment, but I reached over and squeezed his hand. "We'll be fine. I'll see you after, okay?"

He casted his gaze down at me and nodded. "Okay." He squeezed my hand lightly before letting it drop. "Let's go, Lyds."

He and Lydia trekked off into the woods. Scott looked at me. "Thank you."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "For what?"

"For keeping him smiling." I froze. I did not keep him smiling. Did I? "Good luck, Allison." He and Isaac ran off.

I took a deep breath and loaded the vile into my gun. Here goes nothing.
